Using recoils to train slayer isn't one of the best methods.
Slayer is a unique skill in a sense that you can train it in multiply ways. Most people use combat to train it and some like myself use books of knowledge, lamps, penguin points, soul wars, etc..
Leveling slayer will not raise ones total combat level.

Lamps, penguin points, Crafting tutor, even rings of recoil level slayer without combat. Slayer doesn't require combat
