Weekly log 28/01/13 - 03/02/13

28/01 - Dailies. Player Owned Ports. Daily challenge: Swamp Titans. Infuse swamp titan pouches: 6. Reward: 22,416 Summoning xp and 3 frost bones from mystery bag.

29/01 - Dailies. Player Owned Ports. Solo dungeoneering, 251k until 93.
Had someone comment that I was not evolved in the Community as I did not follow "famous" people. Had to laugh at that to be honest.
Achieved 57 constitution.

30/01 - Dailies. Player Owned Ports. Jadinkos Redux. Catch any type of Jadinko (Herblore Habitat): 40. Reward: 40,863 Hunter xp.

Meg returned from her adventure, with a treasure chest for me. Reward: Huge xp lamp(slayer) 21,543 xp and 60,421 gp.

31/01 - Dailies. Player Owned Ports. Solo dungeoneering.

Not a lot of time for Runescape today, real life was the priority for me today.

01/02 - Dailies. Player Owned Ports. Solo dungeoneering.

Did Freminnik Trials quest. I had to laugh at the Olaf the Bard part, where I had to play my lyre for the crowd. Here is my performance:

Some of the crowd called me a terrible bard lol. By the way I'm now known as RakRak.
Did Throne of Miscellania! Now have my own Kingdom at last :) .

Did Royal Trouble quest, as I need for my Kingdom workers to work harder than they already do. Gained 58 Constitution. All skills 58+ now.

03/02 - Dailies. Player Owned Ports. Solo dungeoneering. Daily challenge: Dorgesh-Kaan Agility Course. Complete laps of the Dorgesh-Kaan Agility Course: 6. Reward: 20,025 agility xp. Daily challenge: Ramrage Mk XI. Kill enemies at least Combat level 120: 23. Reward: Challenge xp lamp 14,527 defence xp.

Achieved 75 Attack.

"Over the last few months, we’ve been more active than ever on our own forums, Twitter Facebook, , YouTube, Reddit, and all the fan sites, reading your thoughts regarding our recent posts and updates. I’m thrilled to see so many people talking about what first made - and still makes -RuneScape special. It’s clear that many feel passionately about older aspects of the game; we're certainly listening to everything you're saying.

There are many suggestions, including some radical new ideas. These range greatly in scope: there have been requests for new versions of the game where everyone starts from scratch; servers that run the old combat system; complete single-player versions of the game with the option to pick and choose updates; and a return to RuneScape as it was in 2006. Some of you have asked for servers with more specific special conditions: no Grand Exchange; higher risk or old wildy; old Bounty Hunter; permadeath; old magic shortbow specs; old 2h melee dominance...everything up to “bring back the old three-hit-pk-anywhere system from Classic days," if you remember back that far!

In particular, there are many ideas focused around your love of the old combat system and all its even-earlier incarnations, and your level of passion and interest speaks volumes. Huge thanks for taking the time and effort to tell us how you feel.

It’s been a fascinating read, and everyone has their own opinion on what was good, bad, ugly or epic about older versions of the game. Right now, we’re looking into all of your comments, suggestions and ideas: specifically about combat, both old and new. Were committed to making this year something special, and we really want look into those ideas that you feel most strongly about."

"Researching and exploring these ideas take time. With all the other great content we have planned this year, what we can promise right now is to look into these things with all the energy and enthusiasm we have. Expect more information about this on the 20th of February during our next Q&A session: Around the Campfire with..._

Don’t forget that we are always working on improvements to the core game. We are still refining the EoC based on your feedback and aiming for at least one significant batch of improvements a month. I know it’s frustrating for some of you that we still need to tweak it, but we want to make it as great as we believe it can be by working with you. If you’d like more info on the changes and updates we're making in February, watch out for an Og Blog and February's Behind the Scenes article, both of which are coming soon.

Thanks for reading. If you want to reply here with your own ideas or thoughts regarding this subject, please do so. We plan to keep this thread open for 24 hours and I’ll be posting replies to your comments whenever I can. After that, we can get back into the research work mentioned above. If you’ve posted elsewhere, we will find it and give it the full attention it deserves.

"As you can see, I played through the glory years, and yes, there is a lot of nostalgia.

Players were 'growing' their characters as the game was growing. It was a time of fun, exploration and anticipation. It was a time when pick and ax heads would fly off. There were evil chicken and poison plant randoms. There was pking in the wilderness. There were players risking party hats at duel arena. There was no Grand Exchange. Quests were coming out every other week. It took so long to mine a coal that sometimes you would auto log out. There were no clans. There were no friend chats or clan chats. All communication was done out in the open. Falador east bank was a trading hub. Zezima caused a riot wherever he went. Banks were a hive of activity with people selling super sets. Everything was new and ready to be explored.

They were happy days and I must say I never enjoyed the game more than as a noob during those years.

Now as a Maxed player with a comp cape I have no goals. I see my long time friends leaving the game. I think back on the "good ol' days" and realize it was a different time that I doubt can be recaptured. I doubt going back to 2006 servers will give what long time players are longing for because it was not just the game but the 'experience'

There has been a lot of very, very good content over the years and like an onion, layers upon layers. It seems now though that new content (ie EOC) is introduced and on the surface it looks good but after the complexity of years of RS development no one can anticipate the full consequences and how a 2013 change can adversely affect some minor, easily overlooked, seemingly insignificant content from 2006 which is instrumental to a noob character. Take communication for example. You had speak in public or private message. Friend chat was developed to establish a team/clan feeling but the end result is there is now very little public chatter.

A saying comes to mind: Be careful what you wish for."
