I've noticed a trend in the 6 years I've played this game. Over time Jagex tends to add easier ways to train skills. The longer you wait the more likely they will release content that speeds up particular skills. Because of this trend it is wise to start maxing skills that are already extremely fast xp (Woodcutting, cooking, fletching, thieving, etc) and wait longer on slower skills like mining and runecrafting.
During Runefest we were told that mining was meant for an overhaul and a Runecrafting minigame with the best xp ever is coming out in the future. So clearly the trend continues.
Get 200mil xp in all of the "easy" skills and by the time those are complete the harder skills will most likely have easier training methods than they do in the present.
You are probably already aware of this and have it all planned out though.
