First, I looked through the available topics here on the forums. This post might have been better placed in the “Old School Runescape -> Mobile” forum, but I think it will get more visibility and discussion here.
Second, I did a pretty thorough search of the forums for “bot, macro, accessibility, etc..” If I missed something obvious, please redirect me to the appropriate information.
On to the issue. I earned a short ban for “botting.” My initial reaction was “Seriously? How the heck can I “bot” on an iPhone 4?” Well, turns out that there are some serious bots available for iOS. That was no defense.
I have some physical limitations, and my iPhone 4 has some limitations. Between my mild palsy, and the teeny-tiny screen on the iPhone, I have a hard time tapping a tiny target, and I felt compelled to use some of iOS’s built in accessibility features. Specifically, I used switches to make a recipe so that, for example, when I was getting ready to high alch 200-300 bracelets, I just had to tap the tiny screen in the general vicinity of the spell and bracelet, and the iOS would zero in on the right thing. A clear violation of the rules, but one I didn’t really expect to get busted on.
My question, and one I hope a moderator will weigh in on, is “What allowances does Jagex make for folks that might not quite be able to negotiate the interface?” I’m not handicapped by any means, and I certainly don’t mean to wave it about as an excuse. I broke the rules and paid for it. But I DO want to know where the edge is. What, exactly, CAN I get away with? Or do I just need to go back to Candy Crush?
Please let it rip. Try not to focus on my violation, and please don’t attack my person (I cheated. Got it).
