So I was fishing on mobile at the barbarian fishing area today. 3 time I was logged out and ported to the Grand Exchange. On the last teleport my abyssal whip was missing from my bank and nothing else. No idea what caused any of this however I did not have any of these issues prior to using the mobile app today. Since I cannot get my items back I would be satisfied with a way to prevent this from happening again.
It was not a forced log out when it happened, I had logged out of my own volition. Every time I logged back in I was in the Grand Exchange. I was also used a secured network at the time but have since changed my password and security settings just in case. I did not think it was hijacking/hacking due to the fact I was only missing 1 item.
JMods do not log into accounts and move them around inside the game.
If you found your account somewhere different from where you left it, it means someone else was logged in and moved it, especially if an item has been removed from it.
The statement
"3 time I was logged out and ported to the Grand Exchange"
to me is a clear statement that you were force logged out.
I am sorry if I mis-understood.
Do you use Authenticator?
If you don't you really should.
Jagex recommend a three layer approach to account security:
* your email protected by 2-step verification
* your account protected by Authenticator
* Bank PIN inside your account protecting your items
Did you have any of these?
Even if the hijacker got into your email, they could not get your current password or Bank PIN.
They would have to reset your password to get into your account and they still wouldn't know the Bank PIN.
If they knew your existing password it indicates that either you were phished or tricked into clicking on a dodgy link.
The other thing to be wary of is player uploads to social media e.g. Twitch, Youtube, Facebook etc.
These uploads are where hijackers find most of their victims nowadays.
