Hey, I’m a player returning after about a 15 year gap — I only have an iPad to play the game with and was lured back w/ fresh start worlds.
I understand the need for some automation with moderating the game, I just don’t understand the parameters I met after 3 hours of progress playing on the mobile client on an apple iPad. This would’ve been fine if the support for this game was even mediocre and given the success Jagex have had with this game an automated ban system for a new player with a response time estimate of over ten days is appalling.
I’ve since had the temporary ban expire but now I’m left in the lurch of not knowing if the game is worth investing time into or if I’m just going to have an arbitrary ban applied to my account again and this time having to wait the full ten days to actually play again, with the presumption that whomever oversees appeals actually takes due diligence and vindicates my account.
There is no doubt a botting problem with RuneScape, there always was and will be. But punishing even one innocent player to catch bots wouldn’t be something I’d find justification in doing how about you, Jagex?
That said, really enjoying the grind hoping to get 35 woodcut tonight before my kid wakes up!
