Membership Not Active In Game

I just bought membership on my account, and I just tried to login to OSRS to begin playing after a long break. The money has been withdrawn from my account and membership is also active on my account, but I am not a member in game. How long does it normally take for membership to become active in game?

Membership is still not active in game while still being applied to my account. I paid with a debit card, so from what I have heard, it should be instant. My name on this forum is different from my in game name, but when I go to the “change my name” tab, it says “your current name is …” and that name is the same as the one in game. I have sent a refund request to jagex, but haven’t heard anything back.

(not sure if you are the thread OP)

If the name on the forum is different from your in-game name, it means you are logging into two separate accounts.
The forum name and the in-game name should be exactly the same on the one account.

Start by checking the email you received that confirmed payment.
That email will be addressed to the display name of the account paid for.
Do you recognise that display name?
There is a possibility that you were not logged into the account you think at the time you paid and the membership has been applied to the wrong account.

First, check how many accounts you have as you might find an old, forgotten account.
Use the tools on the Forgotten login support page.
Navigation: Still Stuck? -> No -> Yes -> Email my login

If you have applied for a refund and membership has been removed from the account, it means the money refund will arrive in your bank shortly.

It would have also been possible to get the membership transferred across to the right account.

How did she pay? e.g. Credit Card, PayPal, through an app etc.

Did she use her own card? Sometimes if a player pays through a family member or friend, the payer forgets and challenges the payment and Jagex has to refund.

When did she pay? e.g. has she only just paid or did she pay last month?
What I mean is, has her membership been fully used up and now run out? The account status on the website does take some time to catch up with membership changes so her account status saying she is an active member while not actually being a member in-game isn't that unusual.
