VIP/Premier Membership?

I have recently subscribed for 1 year. I have recently found out that a VIP or Premier (not sure what the difference is) membership would have perhaps been even less than my 1 year regular membership.

Could I perhaps be upgraded to a VIP or Premier membership?

I have tried to contact Runescape via support centre but as usual I have found it almost impossible. Why does it have to be so difficult? Also when I tried to submit this query I was asked for personal information that is way too security sensitive for my taste for instance I was asked for my PayPal email address. Why would you/they need that information? So of course if I don't include that information I can't submit the form. They also ask for the amount I paid & the date. Again why do I have to supply that information? If they were to check my inquiry they would see the date & amount. I don't have that information.

It seems whenever I want to contact Runescape or Jagex you/they make it pretty much impossible. Why is it so difficult?

You may be able to request a refund for your 12 month regular membership. The Support Centre is led by Jagex, and any tickets are only accessible to Jagex customer support. The information is necessary to confirm the purchase that you want to refund.

You can then purchase Premier Club membership here . You can opt to redeeming bonds for it, so you don't have to spend any real life currency on it.

Gold Premier membership is cheaper than the regular twelve month membership.
It also has extras that regular membership does not get.
Read this: Premier Club Content

Jagex will handle the request if you accidentally bought regular membership but intended to buy Gold Premier. ;)
If however you bought one, then decided the other is more desirable, that is just a "change of mind" rather than an accidental purchase. Get what I am saying? ;) ;)

Billing Support handle this by processing a refund of the regular membership then getting you to buy the Premier Club in the regular way i.e. click the link on the website homepage.
The reason they cannot just do an upgrade is because of the extras that come with the Gold Premier. The account needs to sign up for Gold Premier via the correct payment portal for the extra benefits to be applied. They cannot be applied manually by Billing Support.

So, Billing Support need to be contacted via the Refunds support page.
Click the 'Contact Us' button and use this navigation: No -> Jagex/Steam -> Request a Refund
You will have to fill out whatever information is asked for on the form.

p.s.

The information asked for on the webform is all about confirming that they are dealing with the correct person who is the genuine owner of the account.
Billing Support are very security conscious and only ask enough to confirm that you are who you say you are and not a hijacker trying to commit online fraud.

If I may bother you again, ............. it seems I no longer am a member although I haven't received a refund, nevertheless I don't see where to get a Premier Club membership. Is there some kind of a time limit on that or where do I find that?

On the website homepage, right or left arrow through the banner ads and you will get to the Premier Club ad.
You have to click there to get to the payment portal.

The reply message from Billing Support should be in your 'Messages' tab in the Message centre in account management.
If there isn't a message there, check the registered email of your account.

Yes that's what I would expect. My membership has been terminated, I have no message in my account or email.

This is exactly the kind of treatment or support or actually lack of support that I have come to expect from Jagex.

I paid for a one year membership one month ago which has now been terminated & I have not received a refund therefore as of now $100 has been stolen from me by Jagex.

I suspect they are waiting for you to go ahead and buy Premier Club.

During the next 48 hours wait to see if there any changes e.g. message received, money returned.
If nothing has happened after 48 hours, post back and I will flag your account and this thread for a JMod to investigate for you.

This situation you are in (buying regular instead of Premier) is not uncommon and things get satisfactorily sorted all the time.
There is always a period of uncertainty during the process but I have never seen anyone post about being dissatisfied with the final outcome.

Thanks again. I have received a reply by email from a Jagex Mod who said another Mod sent me a reply yesterday. Unfortunately that reply went to my Spam folder. I don't know why that one did & the next didn't nevertheless it explained what's what & I can now go ahead & become a member again. And I am looking forward to enjoying the benefits of the 12 month Gold Premier membership.

Now, one more thing I have to say (I know it probably seems I am a hypochondriacal complainant) but since the Premier memberships are not only a better deal than the regular memberships but also cheaper, why aren't they just the regular memberships &/or why are we not made aware of this when subscribing?

Gold Premier membership is available for only three months each year.
The original Premier Club membership promotion was designed as a "calendar year" purchase rather than an "anytime during the year" purchase.
They are named by the year e.g. 2020 Premier Club, 2021 Premier Club etc.
The extras that come with Premier Club change from year to year and it would become a very difficult thing to manage if one years Premier Club extras were overlapping with the next years Premier Club extras throughout the whole year.

So, the other nine months of the year, your only option when buying a year long membership is to buy the regular twelve month membership.

Also, Jagex run a membership system where, once you start a membership and maintain it continuously over many years, your membership price is frozen to the original subscription amount.
Jagex might put the subscription price up but members that are maintaining continuous membership never get those price rises.
Since the original subscription price (set in 2002) there have been four price rises over the years. There are now five different membership prices for players, depending when they started their continuous subscription.
Premier Club is actually a more expensive choice for players with long term membership.
