I go to open the game with the launcher and it just pops up "Invalid --ConfigURI Setting (4,1)" then force closes. No idea what any of that means, can't find information on it anywhere. Anyone know about this and/or how to fix it?

The following 2 terminal commands are also known to fix MacOS client issues.
1. xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine /Applications/RuneScape.app/
2. /Applications/RuneScape.app/Contents/MacOS/RuneScape Life is like a camera: Just focus on what's important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don't work out, take another shot !

Ok. Please check that your operating system and graphics drivers are up to date. You can also try running compatibility mode, as this support page suggests.

Make sure it's the rs2client.exe that you right click, not the launcher shortcut file. :)

Finally found a thread with my problem on it! Personally, I only have this particular problem when I try to use my phone as a hotspot. Could be it's ISP-related, or maybe the game doesn't play on metered connections. I'm about to switch to an unlimited plan, so if it's the second one, that might fix it.
