Thank you for your advice.

And yes, I went through the setup instructions at https://flatpak.org/setup/Chrome%20OS/
Running 'sudo apt install flatpak' again says Original message details are unavailable.
flatpak is already the newest version (0.8.9-0+deb9u3)

Running 'sudo flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo' returns no output.

I then, per https://support.google.com/chromebook/answer/3420029?hl=en , selected the time and hit Shut down to restart the chromebook.

When I launch a new terminal, after it starts back up, I typed 'flatpak install flathub com.jagex.Runescape' (tried with Runescape and RuneScape just to see). I then receive the same output of Original message details are unavailable.
error: Can't find com.jagex.Runescape in remote flathub
.

I am on a school Wi-Fi so I then ran the same commands through a mobile hotspot, but the same issue persists.

For the flags, I see one labeled "Crostini GPU Support" which is set to "Default" with the description "Enable Crostini GPU support. - Chrome OS"

Is that the one you were referring to?

EDIT: Going to powerwash and start the instructions over just to see. I'll update this message with the results.

EDIT2: Receiving same error "error: Can't find com.jagex.RuneScape in remote flathub"

Well that's unfortunate.

The Linux client is only compiled for AMD64/X64-64 chips, not ARM. (IE, it will only work on AMD + Intel chips) It seems probable to me that the reason the install command isn't working is because the flatpak system is trying to find a version that works on your CPU and there isn't one.

The only way to get RS3 working on your Chromebook is to wait until the mobile client is released into the play store out of beta and run that, the desktop Linux client will never work on that CPU and there's unfortunately no way to fix it.

The tl;dr is that your chromebook has a processor that is usually found in mobile devices and whilst a lot of things are compatible to a degree (E.G you can run the Linux container without hassle), a significant amount of things also aren't (like you'd never be able to install Steam or RS)

Thank you for the information!

I'll be eagerly awaiting the release of RS3 mobile then.

So, I just hopped distros from Xubuntu to an Arch-based distribution a couple weeks ago, and nabbed HikariKnight's RSU client off from the AUR so I could play some Old School RuneScape. Everything was working just fine until last night it suddenly wouldn't boot into the game. Running runescape through the terminal, apparently it couldn't load jagexappletviewer.jar (it was replaced with an empty 0 byte file). I tried the Windows client through WINE and the game was working again.

So, I got curious and wondered that if I just plugged in the jagexappletviewer.jar provided through the official client's MSI file into the directory for RSU Client, if it would start working again, and lo and behold it did. I'm still not entirely sure what caused the original file to be erased, but I just wanted to share my experience with anyone else who might also be facing this same issue.

e;Please disregard this post, I figured it out. I'm not sure if re-downloading Runelite fixed it or me updating the open with program to Java 8 fixed it but GPU mode is working now. I've got the biggest fricken headache rn, I'm not sure how you do it.

Hello again Hmm! I hope youre doing well today. I was looking for advice regarding GPU mode within Runelite.

About a week ago I was able to enable GPU mode within Runelite without any problems, but when I attempt to turn it on now, the client just crashes. This wasn't an issue while I was running windows 10 and wasn't an issue up until a few days ago, the client would work fine while running GPU mode.

Is there something or somewhere that you'd recommend me looking to solve this issue? Is there a setting within my PC that is causing this to happen? I'm searching on google but having issues resolving the problem

I understand you are a busy person and have a personal life so if you could point me in the right direction I'd be happy to start digging in to the topic

Best wishes,

Brahcoli

You can blame the RuneLite guys, specifically the launcher, for this one.

The launcher now requires Java 11. The 1.6 branch still exists and remains useable, but I've no idea for how long. So the launcher wants 11, yet the client works best with 8, and you have this situation you're in right now. The GPU plugin is a massive hack in the game, and designed for Windows first and foremost, there's Linux work done to it, but the Linux graphics stack is an absolute shambles so the quality of the plugin varies massively depending upon the distribution and now apparently also the Java version.

You can try using the appimage provided by the RuneLite guys directly, people say it works better. You can also rollback to the 1.6 launcher if you find the link on Github. As far as the snap business goes, I can only assume the 1.6 launcher will eventually stop working and I'd be forced to use 2.0 anyway, so that forces 2.0.

I'm considering working with the RuneLite crew in the future to make an official RuneLite snap, which might help them significantly with Linux support by allowing them to focus on essentially a smaller more consistent Linux target, but at the same time, Linux support is an afterthought vs Windows support and the state of graphics on Linux makes supporting the GPU hack fairly difficult, so the current scenario with the GPU support on Linux is "You're lucky if it works well"

Thanks for the detailed response Hmm 8) Seeing you working with the Runelite team would be a HUGE pog
