Hi,

I am aware of the ongoing AMD issues regarding OpenGL stuff with Radeon cards and RS and the crashes & application hangs it has caused.

From what I can see from other users experiencing this, they are able to close the app down. Sometimes for me, this has been a total system hang. I am unable to close the app or force close the process in Task Manager. If I fiddle with stuff/other apps, i eventually lose control of my mouse.

I am then forced to hard reset my PC. Has anyone else experienced this? Runescape is the only application I experience this on. I have experienced a total system hang before on Dota, though I think that is remedied by using Vulkan (not sure, have not tried)

Any solutions/shared experience with this system hang issue would be appreciated.

It may be very well possible that your version of Windows isn't totally up to date so I would plan a day to bring Windows up to date running all updates it needs.
After that see if AMD still needs more updates.

Hey, so I appreciate the gesture of help, but windows is always updated and run DDU before any new driver updates for my 6650xt. I am an experienced PC user, just running into issues with RS3 in particular

The issue I have is that the application hang on RS when it happens leaves my computer basically inoperable unless a hard restart is done.

Again, this differs from the feedback that is typical of AMD Radeon card users on this game who only appear to have a few seconds of hang then the application closes. This happens for myself too, though unfortunately just as frequently as the system hang issue I have.

Hopefully a cache refresh does the trick, would just have to stay on top of it though... not ideal

Hello, sorry you're having trouble! What version AMD drivers are you on? I have heard some limited success using older drivers, version 22.5.1

Thank you for the suggestion. Currently on latest.

I have tried 22.5.1 - honestly 23.7.2 has been *slightly* better. With 22.5.1, I experienced the regular crashing AND this system hang (cannot force close/kill RS app; stops other PC processes, requires restart of PC).

Might explore a windows reinstall, though I feel that there is a lot of work on the user (me) to make a game stable. This is not an issue with any other games that I own & play regularly... except maybe Dota 2 (again, I think vulkan fixes this).

Given what AMD Vik has said on the Runescape subreddit about the OpenGL issues requiring a lot of work on their end to address, I would hope that Jagex are exploring fixes on their side. Fingers crossed someone comes to the party with a solution, I don't really care who it is!

Task Manager should identify the culprit as your computer becomes flooded by attempts to make connection with whatever it is wanna connect to.

If you are unable to close said app, before you do disconnect yourself from The Internet and attempt to close said culprit as that should work.

I'm sorry but nothing what you say here is helpful in any way, nor does it acknowledge the actual issue I have. I appreciate the attempt at helping I guess?
