I would like to preface that I don't expect a fix to this right this moment, and more than willing to provide feedback and offer any helpful information.

I am using a Macbook Pro with M1 processor and running MacOS 12.6.

The issue is with the Jagex Launcher when attempting to play OSRS with the Runelite client. I can run Runelite just fine on its own and play. RS3 runs fine using the Launcher.

When I attempt to launcher OSRS with Runelite, I get an error that pops up and says:
"The launcher has experienced an error and needs to close. Process returned an unknown error code."

I did some poking around in the Console and found this secError popping up in the logs for the Jagex Launcher process:
Trust evaluate failure: [leaf MissingIntermediate]

I did some Googling and don't see anything that sticks out for "leaf MissingIntermediate" but I assume either Xprotect is blocking it silently or there is some permission error.

Anyone else run into a similar issue?

Its an issue with the java applet, the launcher doesn't have a proper failsafe for failure to launch so it says it needs to close out. But if you try to open the osrs launcher itself, it just closes out instantly.

Been an issue since one of the recent java updates. There luckily is a fix in the meantime until java gets fixed up, or the osrs client is updated to work with it.

The recent java update last month kinda messed up a few things...gotta do a java rollback to make it work. Either it does nothing, or it tries to load the app and then instantly crashes....or makes the launcher throw an unknown error and have you close out of it.

jre-8u331 is a safe one to go back to that still works. sadly, little bit of messing around to do it; but, getting the older one from oracle, and then removing java to install the old one will do the trick.

Can I turn in a paper without citing all sources?

It's still happening for me and I can't downgrade my JRE for personal reasons. And if I try to login with the regular client, it says that, since I have upgraded my account to the Jagex Launcher, I need to use it. Great, I can't play Runescape on my Mac anymore. Thanks Jagex
