Which version of the game you are playing? RS3 or OSRS?
If OSRS, which client are you using?
Are you playing on a PC, Mac or Mobile device?

I have the same issue where my client freezes every 5mins and I have to close it and reload it. This happens only in normal mode though. I've never had this problem before ever. Its runs without freezing in compatibility mode but compatibility is just so laggy it's hard to pvm. I want to play but it's hard when the client won't even stop freezing. They semi-fixed the problem with normal mode because now I cant play in normal mode without it freezing consistently.

Edit: Its not the client itself freezing but the screen. I can hear music and sounds change. I can use things on my action bars and I will hear it activate but my whole screen is frozen so I have to close it out to fix it just for it to freeze 5 mins later and it doesn't matter what I'm doing.

Almost a year since the last post, I am currently experiencing this exact type of visual freezing where the game still runs underneath but I am looking at the same frozen screen from the moment it froze. Just tried to log into w84 at lumbridge skilling area and got the frozen screen 3 times in a row a few seconds after logging in. I am using a samsung notebook with the samsung graphics (with an i7 processor and 16GB ram), my graphics settings are on low, tree canopy fade is off as I saw it might be the cause but still getting this issue. I've experienced this for a while myself, and this freezing problem is only getting worse.

I've noticed a couple of common factors with these game freezes:

- They ofter occur at specific places that have been recently updated. At this year's Beach event, it was almost impossible to skill at the southern end of the event and use the compass to change which way you were facing, or to use the western and southern exits to leave The Beach, without experiencing game freeze. Sometimes this also happened at the Clawdia fight. Not only did I encounter these freezes personally, several of my friends told me the same thing happened to them.

More recently, exiting the G.E. through the southern entrance often led to game freeze during the 300M Party. Now that the event is over, I find this no longer happens.

- Sometimes I seemingly freeze at random, only to see the small TH pop-up has returned when I log back into RS3. This happened to me twice last night - once when I earned a TH key, and once when I had unclaimed Yak Track rewards.

- I find some locations commonly result in game freeze, particularly in Edgeville, often north or east of the Body Altar. Last night, RS3 froze on me upon teleporting to Falador.

Usually, I can log back in after closing the client. Sometimes it takes a few attempts. After that last freeze at Falador, the only way I could get past the Black Screen Of Death was to switch to the dreaded Compatibility Mode. Yes, it's laggy. Still it's better than nothing.

I run Windows 10 for Desktop, and I like to play in Normal Mode with Mid to High graphics.

Clearing the cache does nothing to prevent this freezing, or to recover from it.
