I was using Protean Hardleather while receive a protean power up and then I was also hit with a pulse core blast which was supposed to boost the exp I was already receiving which was 112 + 50 by 2%. What happened was the pulse core blast cancelled out my protean power up . It would have been beneficial to either disable pulse core blast while receiving a protean power up or to receive both .

The Core does not cancel out a Protean powerup. The two are able to co-existingly operate, so this should not have been a problem for you. You would have been consuming your Protean Hide at 2.4s per hide instead of 3s, with a 50% experience bonus (if you are the owner of the Core) and an additional 2% experience.
