Hello,

I've recently decided to get back into RS and am stuck using a fairly old desktop for the time being. Whilst not brilliant, I think / hope the machine meets the requirements as listed by Jagex.

My issue is that when I try to use my GPU (Nvidia Quadro K620), the game becomes unplayable and is even worse than with integrated graphics. When using my GPU, the developer console shows FPS or c. 60 when standing still compared to c. 15-20 with integrated graphics. N.B. this is all at the minimum graphics settings.

However, as soon as I surge / teleport when using my GPU, the game freezes for c. 2-3 seconds and FPS goes down to 1-2. This doesn't happen with integrated graphics with the c. 15 FPS continuing.

Is my setup just not fit for playing? If so, is there one area in particular? Any reason why I'd get this issue using a GPU but not integrated graphics?

Game Version (OSRS/RS3): RS3
Type of client used (Java/NXT/Mobile/3rd Party): NXT (I think, I am playing via the Jagex Launcher)
Operating System (Windows/Mac OS/Linux or Android/iOS Version): Windows 10
Laptop/Desktop/Phone/Tablet: Desktop
Processor: Intel Core i5-3470 3.2GHz
Graphics Card: Nvidia Quadro K620
RAM: 16GB (4x4)

Sorry, I'm not the most technical so apologies if I've missed any important information from the above.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and will, hopefully, help bring another player back into the game : )

Thanks in advance!

Ah, the quadro lineup of nvidia GPUs are not ideally meant for gaming, they are more used for computational efficiency and some of the newer ones are aimed at AI/Neuro stuff. Since it is a older quadro card it's unfortunately not really going to help you with gaming as it's more meant for professional/computational applications. You'd most likely be best using integrated graphics if you can disable the GPU rendering/switch in your desktop. You are running 3rd gen i5, which can certainly also be the culprit, although I would venture to say your biggest bottleneck is that GPU. I would focus on getting any better card; if your budget is tight, even a old GTX 970 or something along those lines would be more than adequate for 1080p gaming.
Here to help <3

Thank you, Terian, that's really helpful!

Unfortunately , I've got a small form factor case so think I'll need to do a bit more research to find an appropriate low profile GPU. It is really helpful to know that it probably is my GPU causing the issue though so thanks once again : )
