Music ignores audio settings

I launch the Runescape client from the Jagex Launcher on a Windows machine when the game starts (as in the actual game and not the lobby) there is music playing but in my audio settings the music volume is set to 0% and the mute music box is ticked. If I open the audio settings, unmute the music, and then slide the music volume to max then back down to 0% and re-tick the mute music box the music immediately stops. It even plays music when I log in if the global mute box is ticked.
How do I stop this as it is a faff to have to go into the audio settings every time I launch Runescape or enter the lobby?
