I don't know if this issue has already been posted, as I didn't find an exact formulation for it.
The problem :
Whenever I want to hop worlds (wether I am in-game, in the lobby, or starting a minigame) my account (all of them, actually) either fully disconnects or goes back to lobby saying my game session has ended and that I need to restart the game.
This is the message I get after the automatic relog (say, when joining a minigame instance)
"Sorry, we had trouble logging you in. Please try again."
And this when I switch world from the lobby, or after the relog mentioned above
"Your game session has now ended.
To play again, please close your browser/tab window and wait 5 minutes before reloading the game."
My settings :
Currently playing with minimum settings on a i5 HP laptop (with 8GB of RAM), graphics drivers are up to date. Not a gaming computer but the game itself runs smooth and never had issues with it in the past year.
What I tried :
- Clear my game cache
- Log in with a different account to see if it is a general issue
- Use different networks (public, private and shared 4g data)
- Uninstall / reinstall the game
Any idea on what might be the cause of this problem ?
I can't tell for sure if the issue is the same as the other "Can't login" topics that I found here.
I've done some research into your issue, an have a few questions to ask you:
- Are you using a VPN while trying to world-hop? If so, perhaps try using a network without the use of a VPN.
- Are you sure you are not logging into an already full world? this may cause an error in being able to login.
I have read in previous Forum posts on similar issues that using the Steam client is a potential work around to have a better connection:

I would recommend the Steam client for better a connection.
If this fails to work, I would suggest reading through the

Thank you very much for your time, I appreciate that you looked deeper into it, it's exactly the same issue.
So, to answer your questions, I'm not using any kind of VPN. But I am currently far away from home on a student exchange, and using the campus' networks. I don't know their architectures and if they're using any kind of proxy / replication / forwarding system etc.
The issue seems to happen for any kind of world and instance, no matter at which capacity they are. It was a real concern for minigames as I wanted to farm Thalers and kept having these crashs. Otherwise I can live with it just fine, and like this user, I used the same workaround to switch between worlds. But yeah, citadel and minigames are a bummer.
The biggest pain is not being able to visit the clan citadel. I can do a workaround for hopping worlds by just closing the game completely, logging back in and choosing a different world from there....

I'd done all the steps in the Support page already, but I guess I'll contact the support itself just in case, though I think it may very well be a network issue.
However, I did try the Steam client and I'm having less issues. I still crash sometimes, but now I only get the

message and get sent to the lobby, without the need to restart the game, so it's already a win. Well, actually it depends on which network I am, cause on some it works perfectly fine, though I can't always be at these places.
Anyway, thank you again for finding this post and the suggestion, it helped !
If you are receiving the "Sorry, we had trouble logging you in. Please try again." message, it sounds to me like you have an ISP (Internet Service provider) issue.
You can check your connection by using mobile data if your friend or family member has access to set up a mobile hotspot for you. If this works, then it's probably an issue with your router or ISP!
Once you try this, I would suggest reading through the
Common connection solutions
Support page. Specifically, if you find that your game works fine on mobile data:
- Try restarting your router or resetting it to default settings.
- Furthermore, you should check your usage if anybody else is on your router (do you have a strong password protecting it?).
Generally it is always preferred to have a wired connection over wifi as this is a more direct source of the internet. If this is possible for you, it may be worth considering a change.
If you narrow your problem down to the ISP or router, you will need to contact your ISP.
Unfortunately I'll have to wait to come home. Like I said, I'm on campus' network so I don't really have any way of solving it and I need to save my mobile data
Well, it's half resolved and I found an alternative to the Thalers to get the items I was looking for, so for now all is good
