One of the worst things Jagex has done is create the launcher
I've not been able to play often due to regular updates that brick the application. I'm struggling to get the launcher to play on Mac on non-administration account. It freezes when it updates and can randomly write anywhere in the update box and it's a nightmare, any advice on getting the launcher to run?
it doesn't matter whether a cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice.
I know nothing about what the macOS launcher is using, but if it's similar to the Windows version with Chromium you could try adding these launch flags somewhere to disable GPU acceleration:
Original message details are unavailable.
--disable-gpu --disable-software-rasterizer
There's also other Chromium flags that might be useful like disabling the sandbox (I think --no-sandbox).

Would it be possible to run it on a administrator account, or run the launcher as a administrator/elevated privileges?
So where it stuck in a loop for an update on a non-administrator account, there Is a command Jagex Support did tell me to run to produce a log, I took the verbose part of the curl out with a copy of the installer in Downloads and it popped up a repair/remove box asking for administration rights and by entering them, it downloaded as normal and resolved the issue
