Today Runescape client has been crashing constantly. I installed a new antivirus yesterday, I believe that is the cause, but since there were technical problems in the game yesterday as well I'm thinking if that could be the problem after all.
There is no error message, no glitching before the crash, the game slows down for a few seconds and then just closes. There doesn't seem to be a pattern on when the crash occurs, it happens after transitioning to a new area, putting in GE offers or just standing at a bank. I checked my task manager for performance during gameplay and after crash, the RS client has "very high" power usage and a lot of CPU usage which I don't think it used to have, and looking at the performance tab it shows CPU usage peaks to 100% right before the crash. I didn't use to have issues with CPU, I could run RS at high graphics or even several clients at once without issue
I've tried contacting the antivirus provider but they refuse to let me speak to a person, all I get is a useless robot. I googled to find solutions and tried what people recommended: I've rebooted my computer, uninstalled and re-installed RS and installed the cache, lowered graphics, changed firewall settings and disabled firewall altogether. I haven't uninstalled the antivirus because that's a pain and I want to leave that as the last resort
Does anyone have any ideas?
