Hello all,

Until about a week ago, I was able to play Runescape 3 on Windows 11 just fine, but then a storm blew through my town and I figured I should unplug my PC and move it to a safe location.

Unfortunately, the next day when I plugged everything back in, the audio for just Runescape 3 doesn't seem to want to work anymore. The application doesn't even appear on my audio mixer. I've also tried googling the remedy, as well as following the various prompts listed on the RS site itself as it seems a few dozen others have encountered something similar over the years, but I can't find a solution.

I've tried:
- Muting and unmuting in-game global sounds, as well as each individual slider.
- Going into the audio settings and checking/unchecking/rechecking the option to give applications exclusive control of my audio device.
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the Runescape 3 launcher.
- Uninstalling and reinstalling the Jagex Runescape launcher.
- Clearing the game cache, as well as deleting the launcher files from my registry and reinstalling everything.
- Changing my audio defaults from my GoXLR to my speakers, to my Windows defaults, and back (none of them worked for it).
- Loading up nearly a dozen other games, including OSRS, to make sure it's not a system issue; it isn't - even OSRS plays audio just fine. Strictly an RS3 issue.
- Running SFC /scannow and OS repairs through the admin command prompt.

Short of a full OS reinstallation strictly for this one app, does anyone have any recommendations, or else have they run into this same audio issue before? Much appreciated if you can help me. <3

Windows allows you to specify which audio device each application goes to. I'm pretty sure that a GoXLR shows up in Windows as multiple different audio devices, so its possible it is sending it to one that isn't the one you are expecting.

While I don't have Windows 11 to check on, I presume its likely in a similar place to the menu on Windows 10:

- Right click the sound icon by the taskbar, select "Open Sound Settings"
- At the bottom of that window, there is a heading that says "Advanced sound options". Click "App volume and device preferences"

On that window (with RS open and playing audio), check which device it is outputting to, and change that to the appropriate device that corresponds with the right track on your GoXLR. It likely isn't matching the rest of the applications that you can hear.

Unfortunately that's what I meant by it not even showing up in my mixer - the advanced sound options for routing audio through specific interfaces (even OSRS shows up, just not RS3). As of right now, Runescape doesn't appear in the mixer for Windows 11 so that I can reroute its output to my default (the GoXLR).

I've also tried changing defaults, unplugging the GoXLR, and about a dozen other things that didn't fix the issue. The game itself refuses to appear.

**Edit** Solved - Runescape 3 (launcher) doesn't seem to queue in Windows 11's volume mixer because it doesn't register as a game file? but otherwise ran as intended. This was true whether I installed an old setup file or the current launcher file from the main website.

Solution: I ended up downloading the game through Steam, as Steam does queue into the volume mixer and now I have in-game sound again.
