Jagex Launcher will not open

I was actively playing yesterday when my Jagex Launcher crashed. Once I closed out of the error window, there was a separate window saying that it was downloading an update for the launcher. I let it sit there for well over an hour and it never changed it's status. I force quite the update, restarted my computer and the launcher will not open and will not give me an error.

I have tried the following:

-Restarting computer
-Shutting down computer
-Downloading Jagex Launcher and repairing
-Deleting Jagex Launcher and re-installing
-I have tried changing wi-fi proxies as suggested on Jagex website
-I have tried going to my terminal and entering a string of code as suggested by a few people on reddit.
-I have created a new profile on my mac, re-downloaded the launcher and tried opening that way.
-Changed security settings to allow programs from unverified sources to open
-I have tried downloading from both chrome and safari.

I am not sure what else I can do in order to access the game. Any suggestions or advice would be helpful. Thank you!

I've noted a similar situation starting 6 Dec 2023. My situation is the Launcher Update message comes up with the Apply button. I get about 30 seconds of download (x.x KB/sec of 246 MB) and then getting the message of I/O timeout etc. At least some of this may be due to connection quality which is an ongoing issue - VPN won't always connect. I can run Fast.com at times which shows sufficient bandwidth that should support extended downloading like that I can achieve from other sites.

I've yet to try all the steps noted above primarily because of the connection issues. Any suggestions as to items which can be done without dependence on the connection?

Hi ChicknHerder.

I'm afraid the latest update to the Jagex Launcher requires macOS 10.13 or later. If you have an earlier version, then you will need to update it if you are able to on your hardware.
