I haven't completed plagues end and killing mourners won't give me the equipment drop? Is there something I can do to fix this or am I SOL?

From what I've found, after Plagues End, you can go to the Mourner HQ, enter the trap door, and then search the chest in the SE room.

Can I turn in a paper without citing all sources?
