You do not need Jagex Launcher if you do not want to. However, Jagex/JMods are working towards Jagex Launcher being the only way to access their gaming software.

That's where it mostly does go wrong, as you need to be skilled enough to find the difference in systems so you may rule out any advantage another system might have.

All 3rd party software clients do pose a risk of unbalancing the level of advantage/disadvantage thus having a higher risk that a player is breaking the rules, thus having a risk to get banned.

I’m trying to figure out how to send a picture on here of what I’m using because I want you to see so give me a bit just got settled at work but I am going to try what you told me but another question if I play off the game launcher am I safe no matter what ??? Because I only play off the downloadable client atm that is offered by RuneScape on the main site so basicly my overall question is if I just download game launcher and play off basicly the same pc that I possibly got bánned off of will that keep me safe using the proper game software guidelines ? Also wanted to add in that my company computer at work does have a nordvpn app on the desktop so I do think we are running a vpn I just wanted to add that in there and now i just check my other pc in the my other room and that one does not have a vpn at all active and i have been playing on the one with a vpn a bit more often but anyhow i uninstalled everything and im running off the game launcher now so hopefully this aint the end of the road for me but if you could follow up with my question ( my overall question is if I just download game launcher and play off basicly the same pc that I possibly got bánned off of will that keep me safe using the proper game software guidelines ?

If you wanna post pictures in The RuneScape Official Forums, be aware that you shield your privacy very good and make sure private information is erased/blurred, so you protect yourself from hacking/hijacking. Including shielding off your RuneScape Account information.

Ok I wanted to just point this out now since you mentioned that it pushes me to download the launcher , but I wanted to mention I looked at the osrs client I downloaded off the main site and it was from 2017 when I looked at my download date so everytime i launched my osrs client it was just a shortcut I never had to eject with the Jagex launcher so my question is was that the problem the whole time ???? And if it is it’s weird because for like holiday events and stuff my clients background would refresh to that current event but yeah I never had to use a launcher before but now I have it all set up but please let me know and you guys are awesome for giving me you’re time and one other lol cause I have 2 accounts total I’m just wondering why my other acc or this one shall we say isn’t banned the same way I guess if this was the problem and I’ve been playing like this for a while just wondering if you know and thanks again

MY LAST ——— dude you won’t believe me but I legit been playing off an outdated client from 2017!!! That’s nuts I just went to download the osrs client again off the main site and btw I think the client shouldn’t have been active for players I literally didn’t even know I had to redownload it which is kinda messed up but i did redownload the osrs client not the launcher but it did force me to download the Jagex launcher like you said ! And yeah I never even seen this thing lmaooo that definitely had to be the problem man is there anyway way this can get looked at more ?

An "outdated" RuneScape official client wouldn't get you banned for macroing. If it were outdated for that long, since 2017 as you claim, you'd have gotten notices throughout the years to update it. I do not think that's the reason for your ban, as long as you were using the official RuneScape client, outdated or not...

Hey yeah that’s was the last time I downloaded the file off the site but like you said about the client being forced to update and that was true meaning like every Thursday when they roll out updates I had to close it down because it said this client has been updated and when I reopened the app it ran perfectly so that’s why I never checked the main site and didn’t even know about the game launcher but I’m all set up with that now but not you got me a little worried again lol I still have not logged on to my main account yet just worrying about to issue
