So, I had a perm ban from a couple years ago that I had nothing to do with. Someone hacked my account and used a macro while playing old school. I finally got my account back and put in a ban appeal. Over the past 10 days I've been logging in multiple times a day to see if there has been any update. As of today, I got a message that there was suspicious activity, and my account has been locked out. When I go in and try to recover it I keep being denied. I have all the info for the recent passwords the email that was associated with the account and the security questions. Is there anyone with any tips that would be able to help me with this situation.

Hi there
IamBlackhawk
,

How long is it until your recovery request is being denied? If it is almost instantaneous, then this suggests that the information you provided is either missing fundamental information that validates you as the creator of the account, or is simply incorrect. If it took longer than an hour, then it has likely made it past the automated filter which is in place to ensure users submitting fraudulent recovery attempts are not manually checked.

The information you provide must be detailed:
- Up to three previous passwords can be provided, the older the passwords given, the stronger it looks on the recovery form.
- Try to provide older payment details, preferably the earliest transactions that you have access to.
- Think back to when the account was created, what year was it? Where was it created? Was it at home or at a friend's house?
- If asked for recovery questions, try to remember what your younger self might have put, or if you have any records of your answers anywhere.

Hope this information helps. The devil is in the details, so try and provide as much of this as possible.

Hi there
IamBlackhawk

So, they removed the ban but locked the account?
And now you have to do a 'recovery' to prove that you are the true owner before they will unlock the account to you?

Do not submit your last known password as that pw was compromised. Submit earlier passwords, preferably from the earliest days of the account.
The older the account is, the older the information needs to be. Recent information has little value if the account is many years old.
If the account has ever been hijacked before, only submit information that pre-dates the first time it was ever hijacked. Jagex want to see information from a time when the account was completely secure.

How quickly does the deny reply arrive after you submit your recovery?
- less than five minutes?
- more than fifteen minutes?
If you tell us that we can work out how far into the process you are getting stuck and tailor advice to you.

1. I'm not sure if they removed the ban at all.
2. I gave the last few passwords that I've used.
3. it denies it immediately.
4. I went back all the to 2010 with membership info and the transaction id that came with the purchase.

1. I'm not sure if they removed the ban at all.

Check that email again. It sounds to me like your ban appeal was successful but the account was locked. This is something Jagex will do if they believe the account is still insecure (hijacker knows the pw).

"2. I gave the last few passwords that I've used."

As said earlier, don't submit the last known password. Try to focus on submitting the earliest ones rather than recent ones.

"3. it denies it immediately."

Check through the following list:
* the login is wrong (trying to recover someone else's account by mistake)
* no correct old passwords have been submitted (unlikely in your case)
* you are not in the country where the account was created
* you are using a VPN (don't use one during recovery)
* the recovery form has a severe lack of correct information or too many boxes left blank

If you are getting an instant deny, the recovery questions haven't been checked yet.
The form is checked first by a computer which looks at all the hard facts about creation and passwords. If the form is passed by the computer, it moves on to a JMod who checks the recovery questions and the information you put into the 'Other Comments' box.
You have to get it past the computer check to have any hope of success.

Creation Information: are you able to ask family members if they can help remember some information? They might remember what ISP the family was using.
Always check the reasons for the deny and try to improve your next attempt based on those reasons.

"Someone hacked my account and used a macro while playing old school. I finally got my account back and put in a ban appeal."

Did you recover it through Jagex that time?
