(Couldn't make the topic clearer with the character limit)

About two days ago I merged my main Runecape account into my new Jagex Account.
From that point, I was unable to use the Jagex Launcher for this character.
It keeps telling me the password is wrong.

-I reset the password (twice, even using different special characters to rule that out as a reason)
-I added 2FA to the Jagex account
-Reinstalled the launcher.
-Manually typed in the password to be 100% sure it wasn't a copy paste issue.
-Logging on to the Runescape Client without launcher also tells me my password is incorrect.

Nothing works.
The Jagex account and password are correct, they work on the website (using it now).

However, when I enter an old password (used for an expired (?) RS account, not the Jagex account, it tells me this account is locked. When I try to recover it, it tells me there is no such account... So.... what is it?

Hi MortiisRa.

I've moved your thread to the Community Led Account Help forum.

Which game client are you using? OSRS Official client, Runelite or RS3 official client.

Are you starting the client by clicking the "Play" button in the Jagex Launcher?

Hi,

I'm using the official RS3 client, and the Jagex Launcher.

I can't login to the client nor add my Jagex account in the Launcher, it appears Jagex is confused between my email address being a Jagex Account, or a Runescape account, the fact that the PW for the runescape account seems to be "accepted" but then tells me the account it locked for my security confirms that.
Trying to unlock it doesn't work though, as it tells me there is no such account.

None of the answers in the FAQ are any help either.
There just seems to be an issue with email addresses being used for different things (including a character that has it's name removed, so that must have been long forgotten, it showed up under my Jagex Account as a suggestion).

Log in to the website Account page (link top right of this page).

Is there a blue "Jagex Account Management" button towards the top of the page? If it's there, that will confirm the account has been imported into a Jagex Account.

What am I supposed to do with this info?
There is not "blue button", but there is a gray-ish blue tab called Account Management, and I have a button to the list of charaters? (2, one unnamed that I think it causing issues)

Yes, I can log on, yes, I see my character under account management, my Jagex account "works" in every way through the website, except is can not log on to the Jagex Launcher or the RS3 Client.

I've given all information I could come up with, it seems that when logging in, it is first looking for Runescape accounts, then for Jagex accounts with the SAME email address.
This "Runescape" account is locked behind the Jagex account, so it's stuck in a catch22.

Nothing stopped my from using my mail address to create the Jagex account, so the only thing that I can ask is to prioritize Jagex accounts over Runescape accounts in the launcher, and all should work. (but would probably require a code change)

You should find my email address in the database as a moderator, feel free to contact me there directly if there is anything I can provide.

For now I'm forced to use Steam, but I would really prefer to be able to log on through the Launcher.

I've seen others with a similar problem, an unnamed account seems to be getting in the mix. I am worried about upgrading because it looks like I also have one. If they told me I had started to make an account at some point I wouldn't be surprised, I signed up for some betas and other things like mobile.

Could it be from RS classic? What do they know about this?

Edit: at one point they let us play classic, that is what I am referring to. All I remember is how slow it was. :p

I just did an additional step: Changed the email address for my Jagex account (included an extra dot, making it unique) and it still doesn't work.

The unnamed account is probably something I want to have removed, but I can't.

That is the Jagex Account settings page, not the page for the individual character which I directed you to.

So is the account you are posting with (and presumably trying to play on) one of the two listed characters?

Does the other listed character have a display name shown? Does it say "Not yet linked" next to that extra character?

If, when you create a Jagex Account, you create it with the same login email used by a Runescape account, then it will be listed in the Jagex Account character list as "Not yet imported".

If you can see your main account listed (and it is not marked as "Not yet linked" ), then you should be able to play on that account via the Jagex Launcher.

Start the Jagex Launcher, and log out of every account completely. Then log in with your Jagex Account details. You cannot be logged in to the Jagex Launcher with a Jagex Account and unimported Runescape accounts at the same time.

Then select your main character's display name from the drop down list of characters, then click "Play" and it should load the game client, and log your character in.

Both accounts are indeed linked, in the account management page.
One is this account, the other is an unnamed account.

Okay, that my be it then....
I do still have unlinked accounts in the launcher. Like my FSW and ironman.
So I'll log all of them out as suggested.
I didn't realize unlinked accounts made the login impossible, and I was hesitant to link more after the first account proved to be challenging.

Okay, logging out of all characters and logging in with the Jagex account worked, that was the one thing I hadn't tried.

I still have the unnamed character there, but I'll just ignore it, having my main back is good enough :D
