I have an account tied to an email which no longer exists (old student email). I went through the account recovery process using my current student email, as my personal email is already registered to an account, and I never had any problems with my old student email. I intended to link the account to my Jagex account to avoid this issue in the future. The recovery was accepted, but I no longer have my old authenticator so I cannot log in. I request an email to disable the authenticator, but it takes an hour to arrive, by which time the link is expired.

So, now I am trying to recover the account again to a brand new email account since I assume the organization security settings are delaying the email. Unfortunately my recovery request, which contains exactly the same info as my approved recovery request, keeps being denied. So I completed a successful recovery, and yet am still locked out of my account due to being unable to disable the authenticator.

Hey, Monkeymango7.

You gotta keep trying. If you need more assistance, the Account recovery denied Support page may give you some insight on what they are looking for.

Always remember...

• Try not to use a VPN when recovering an account. VPNs make it harder for Jagex to create a digital print of the account, something that's very useful to them and to the player when such player is trying to recover an account;
• You must try to recover the account in question from the location that you created the account on or the location that you play the most on. This will show Jagex more proof that you are indeed the account's owner;
• The earlier the information that you enter, the better. This is because it will allow Jagex to see that you indeed know the earliest details on the account. Most recent details may not be useful;
• Try to put the ISP that was used when you created the account. If it's still the same, then say so. This will help you tremendously;
• Try to name ANY display names of OTHER accounts that you may already own, even if you don't play on them that often. This allows Jagex to cross-reference ownership links among those accounts;
• Billing information usually means the earliest details that you may have from the account in question;
• You should mention the original display name of the account, ONLY if the account in question has an email as a login.

Keep trying. Don't give up and read those deny emails sent to you. They are informative :) .

Without access to the registered email on the account in question, it is not possible to remove the Authenticator . If you are indeed successful, it's suggested that you use a Google Mail (GMail) account as they are known to cause the least amount of headaches.

Thanks Mrs Ana,

Fortunately I haven't been using a VPN, unfortunately I no longer live at the place I was last playing. Can I simply state in the extra information section the location I last played at and the ISP used, though it was different from the ISP I used to make the account since that was 6 years ago?

Could you elaborate what you mean by this? No accounts are linked to the one I'm trying to recover. Is it just that they will see the login ISP/location/IP Addresses were the same?

Fortunately I have access to the registered email... the links in the emails just expire before I get them. I wonder if I just got lucky with the first recovery being approved since I put in exactly the same information.... I'll keep trying and implement those suggestions.

You can try, but it's highly recommended to try to recover the account using the location that you play the most on. It'd be ideal to mention the ISP that you were using at that time to ensure that the information matches with that they have on file.

If you own any other accounts that you have used to play, it's ideal to mention those because it will allow Jagex to cross-check them for ownership. Meaning, if I have, let's say, another account named Mrs Ana 2.0, I'd mention that account while recovering Mrs Ana because it will permit Jagex to see if there are any links between the two and thus help my recovery process.

If you have access to the registered email address, then you can just change it by going to this Support article page: Change registered email .

I suggest you change it to a GMail account, if you can. If that doesn't work, then successfully recovering the account is the only other option to force change the registered email address to remove the Authenticator.

I can't change my email, even though I have access, because I can't log in without the authenticator. I receive the authenticator disabling emails, but they take over an hour to arrive and the link expires. I'll continue trying to recover the account by implementing your suggestions.

Just keep trying to recover the account to force change the registered email address, then. Remember, try to use a GMail as those have cause the least amount of problems for RuneScape players throughout the years. Once that's successful, you should be able to receive the email in time and in turn, remove the Authenticator.

Please let us know how it goes. Best of luck!
