on the windows client i can't find it
is this possible by the windows client?
how can i login by my username?

If you're trying on the launcher, you need to use the new Jagex Account system for that. You can upgrade via your account settings. <guide here>

Otherwise, on the download's page, at the bottom, there's a link called "Game Direct Download". You can download the standalone client and log in with your username that way. Can I turn in a paper without citing all sources?
