I know it's an o;ld and familiar complaint; somebody broke into my account and took every single thing of any bank value at all; even my metal box and arch materials box. were emptied dry.

I just initiated the new Jagex sign-in process, expecting stronger security, and have been using the system with no problem but I have always felt vulnerable; now I know I wasn't wrong.

I used to have an authenticator and I felt very comfortable with that method because I would get a code sent to my cell phone number, that nobody has, but I have lost the authenticator with the new Jagex process.

My question is; is there any way to activate the authenticator once again with the new Jagex?

I would really feel so much better. I know I have a long road ahead of me to get back my five billion+ GP worth of items I have lost but I'm up for it if I can feel secure once again.

Can someone please help?

yes its part of the process you do when setting up.

i dont know how you dont have it honestly

authenticator is part of jag account / launcher. from when i was setting up you had to do have it. you must have skipped it.


it sounds like you didnt do the set up correctly somehow. or you werent doing jagex sign up at all. and this was a fake one to get your details

Sorry to here you had a spot of bad luck.

You should get help and advice here on how to secure everything up.

Sadly Jagex won't replace anything stolen.

Your 'Old Authenticator' will stop to exist, in place you will receive a new authenticator setup if you choose for this option.

TENEBRI: I had a really tuff time with the initial setup of the new launcher. For a long while I had to totally uninstall Runescape and then re-install it just to get into the game. But aside from that, I feel I followed all instructions and directions and I was never prompted to initialize Authenticator

At any rate, your comment, although appreciated, did little to appease my wounded game heart and help fix my problem. I think I am currently on the road to redemption, however.

TUFFTY: Thank you for the empathy, it happens I guess. This is my 4th total hacker wipeout. But none of the others were this complete. For some reason, this one even took my replaceable achievement garments and tools???

Fortunately, I'm an old fart (74 years) and have little else to do with my time so I will charge back in, after getting this problem fixed, and build my account back up again. I WILL return, and I WILL be stronger than ever. Luckily, hackers cannot steal earned levels or progress on quests and outfit upgrades. Otherwise, I would really be in bad shape.

2_TRON: Yes, my old authenticator is a thing of the past. It generates numbers but RS does not recognize them.

I suppose it is my computer illiteracy but I am unable to reinstall the authenticator to a working level, but I have secured professional help to do just that.

I am anxious for my guy to get it done so I can start on my long trek back to fame and fortune, well, at least fortune. It will be a great deal of work but I like the game well enough I have almost welcomed the challenge to start all over.
