@Unknown_RSPK, the one thing you wanna portray here is is when 2 people 'share the same account credentials'. Yes that will debunk any design as flawed because the intensions of both individuals is false from the beginning.

You yourself simulating something is never a good thing to do as the Jagex Employee, you are contacting, still sees you as being you trying to help you recover your own account.

One thing I am going to advise you, is to not start overthinking things too much and attempting the things you did attempt, as that will be putting holes in trust Jagex/JMods are having in your case.

You know my point being is it could be better. I appreciate that Jagex implemented the enhanced security and I think it definitely will work but it could be made to be perfect.

When I said tried it on my own account, it was for one of my old accounts that was genuinely recovered in the past, so let’s not assume things :) . I didn’t try it for the sake of testing so Jagex can trust me. In fact I’m the one who started a thread, wanting further security measures hence the reason I want the security to be even tighter.

I think it’s great that I can use my imagination to prevent every security holes because there are still possibilities in the real world that what I said could happen and has happened. It’s not only my opinion. Account recovery has always been an issue on Runescape and I’m explaining the reasons why.

I want a system where in the near future they can implement further security measure by adding in yubikey protected Jagex account, that will be amazing but I can appreciate that it’s still new and it may take some time.

But it’s all good I know you want to defend Jagex and I have nothing against them just like you, in fact I also appreciate there hard work and effort but I will not hesitate to say it exactly how it is. It’s okay to have a discussion and make a constructive criticism.

You want to test it? Try recovering someone else's account. Of course you will succeed at recovering your own account. The test is to attempt to recover someone else's. You will discover it is impossible.
When you see players posting about how their accounts were stolen through recovery, a few questions will reveal that that wasn't the case at all. They just don't want to admit their security was patchy and their internet use was risky.

Your other thread was locked because you were covering the same ground as this thread, just in a different way.
This thread was asking about your own account security, the other thread was a starting a general discussion about account security.
The Community Led Account Help forum has a specific purpose, for players to seek help and advice with their own accounts. General discussion threads are closed down in here as it isn't the right forum section for them. I note that you have now morphed this thread into a general discussion thread on the topic of account recovery.

Thank you for the detailed response on how I could find the creation details of my account.

Yes, the contact page should be removed and I have already explained multiple times why it should be removed on my previous responses. There is no reason for sarcasm, I will not try it on other peoples account. The only reason why it worked on my account is because I recovered one of my old accounts.

If your Jagex account is YubiKey protected with MFA backup codes and you're still recovered after all that when a "contact" page does not exist it is 100% on you and not Jagex, you're fully responsible. It is not possible for anyone to just bypass a YubiKey protected account or an account with backup codes if they're stored discretely and properly in a safe place. NOW the WORLD / internet does not just have access to the "contact page" with your information, great step forward. Moreover, no labour work on Jagex so they save time and money as well. It's a win win for Jagex and users.

The only major benefits I see of the Jagex account is complex password including Non-Alphanumeric keys and few others such as improved MFA, which is all great improvements.

Time will show the truth and it's still early day's for Jagex accounts.

If necessary they can call for help, help from Community Helpers or Jagex/JMods to assist them, helping them in the right direction hence '

' is constructed that way.

Your idea about a 'yubikey kind of security' is totally worthless, maybe useful for the few that always have been able to use security as it should be, always keeping their accounts safe, but your idea doesn't serve the masses/community who do not want to have a 'Rubiks-cube kind of security'.

It is not about you ... '
it is about the RuneScape Community
' as a whole.
