Hi, I would just want some clarification on whether what I want to do is considered macroing, since you don't really get a second chance if you get it wrong. I plan to buy a mouse with a built-in numpad, and use that numpad to have quick access to my action bar (for example, binding the key 1 to ctrl + 1, 2 to ctrl + 2 etc.). Is this against the rules? I'm not planning on assigning multiple actions to any single key, just a straight remap like this.

Thank you!

To play RuneScape;

- use standard computer (off the shelf product)
- use standard software that comes with said computer
- use standard mouse & keyboard

Keep yourself to '
Rules of RuneScape
' and/or '
Terms & Conditions
' and nothing will trouble you.

There's no need for a new explanation as everything is written down in both lists above.

Thanks for the reply, but it doesn't really satisfy my question ("off the shelf" computer means you can't build your own PC?). I checked in with a player moderator who actually was using the exact same type of mouse that I wanted. I explained my setup and he said he uses it in the same way.

He put it like this; you can use these type of gaming mice with programmable keys as long as it's a 1-to-1 action, for example 1 programmable key will only equate to 1 key input. It would basically function as an extra numpad plugged in.

Necromancy really got me more involved in PvE, and this is making manual EoC much more intuitive for me.

P.S What I'm using is the Corsair Scimitar as PnP, without the accompanying software iCue.

You can 'build' your own computer as long as you use standard software/hardware.

If you have any doubts, follow your instinct and do not ignore your doubts. All is explained in many ways as mentioned in my other post and it isn't worth the risk.

Well, setting key 1 on the mouse to do Ctrl + 1 is basically a macro. One keypress is resulting in two simultaneous keypresses. Though, it is a modifier key (shift, ctrl, alt) and a regular key. It is a really basic macro but strictly speaking I think it is a macro. But, if the P-mod is doing that too then perhaps Jagex tolerates that sort of basic macro. I really can't say for sure. I've never tried it. AFAIK, this scenario isn't specified in the rules. Hence, your reason for asking here. Unfortunately we rarely get input from the J-mods here so most of your replies are going to come from regular players and community helpers.
