Old acc got hacked and banned

My old account got hacked then banned for macroing. I appealed and said I was hacked but my appeal was denied. No reason was given in the appeal for my denial and no redemption was given. Is there any way around this or is that account just done for?

It depends how old the ban is and how long ago you appealed.
If the appeal is quite recent then there is nothing you can do about it currently.

Each time Jagex updates the Appeal System a fresh appeal opportunity is added to appealable bans so it's worth checking the 'Account Status' tab each year to see if a fresh appeal has been added. Appealable bans have had several fresh appeal chances added in the past half dozen years and some old macroing bans have been removed due to the passing of time.
So, don't give up hope completely. You really can't tell what might happen in the future.

Is there any way around this or is that account just done for? If you are 'hacked/hijacked' the first thing you need to do after gaining control once again is put your account security to the max.
This can easily be done to change your account to a Jagex Account.

If you do not take account security serious enough Jagex/JMods might decide to ban said account for the safety of other players & The RuneScape Community.

I couldn’t get into my account because it was banned. There was no chance to upgrade my security or anything because I hadn’t been on the account in like 10 years. It got banned back in 2020. It said it was permanently banned so I guess there’s no redemption, even though I could upgrade the security of it now.

@LordMinoes, nope ... permanent is what it says and with a zero-tolerance policy there's no chance for any redemption. Accounts that are banned/perm banned can't be changed into Jagex Accounts.

That has always been the reason that as soon as you noticed an account being hacked/hijacked a player has to contact Jagex/JMods what to do for the future of said account. If an account is given back, by Jagex/JMods, account safety is the first thing anyone should think of to get it up and running maximum.
