So, I read a bunch of other posts by people here who had a very similar thing happen to their accounts.
This post isn't necessarily about what I can do to secure my account, that is mostly taken care of. Some background information, my account has been hacked a bunch of times starting over 2 years ago. One of the first times it happened, I did not have 2FA activated, and I do not remember if I had a bank pin set. Following that first hack, I added google authenticator and set a bank pin.
After happening again, I was told by some friends that if my bank pin in-game was bypassed, it may be a bigger issue like malware on my PC, but I diagnosed it, and nothing was found. Since then, it happened two more times, most recently right after I migrated my account to the Jagex launcher, changed my password, and added my google authenticator to my iPhone passwords and removed it from Google entirely in case my email was compromised. I also had to reset my PC entirely so the OS and hard drives I am currently using are completely new.
Yesterday it happened again, and it was very frustrating because I was sure that it was impossible at this point until someone told me it could be an old third-party account that was still linked to Jagex.
The most recent change I made was unlinking all third-party websites (Steam and Amazon in my case), changing my password again, and I am now waiting for my pin to be set so I can make sure that my account is safe before I start playing again.
What I want to know, is how would I be sure that the account is now safe to play on, because I really don't want to quit the game or make a new account and I also don't want to spend money on membership if all my stuff is just taken randomly.
Also, any information you guys might have about how malware that would give someone access to something like my bank pin would be helpful. I'm wondering if that was installed through an old Amazon account that was still linked to Jagex I think that was the issue.
