Jagex Launcher added character

Hi everyone, was just hoping someone would see this and point me in the right direction for serious help. Jagex had everyones emails and characters compromised a few years ago and i'm starting to wonder if this has anything to do with the new Jagex Launcher.

The issue is, I have a total of 3 characters. One of which I thought was mine to import into the launcher but I thought it was strange that one of those characters only had numbers and letters, which isn't a true name. Seemed odd because all my characters have names and I play on them consistently. So I continued with the import like an idiot.

Finishing up to repair my Launcher, I booted up the start for my characters.... this character that had no name I ended up clicking on to check and make sure Jagex was maybe glitching out or something since it wasn't showing one of my characters names. But when I logged into it, I was terrified to find out that this character I never created was somehow linked to my email.

There use to be a way to delete characters and now with the launcher, they don't have that option anymore.

Please, someone help!

Once linked to a Jagex Account, an account cannot be unlinked.

It is a desired feature that was in the recent survey to archive characters (hide from the list and not count towards the 20).

Hopefully in the future this will be programmed in and those types of accounts can be hidden, but atm it cant be done. Can I turn in a paper without citing all sources?

A character that shows with an odd looking name e.g. [#3YGN30GH] is an old, inactive account that has had its original display name removed due to inactivity.
At first game login, the player will be asked to set a new display name.

Is your email provided through a free email provider?
It is possible that your email has been used before, then been deactivated, then you came along and re-created it again as your new email.
And it is entirely possible that the previous owner of your email created a RuneScape account for themself years and years ago then stopped playing. This isn't unknown.
Your newly created email would still have this old RuneScape account linked.
You can check the age of the account by logging in to the game and talking to Hans in Lumbridge.

It may turn out to be an account you created years ago then forgot about. :P
