Well now they're hiding my message.
No, my rs password is unique and only used on rs.
A bank ping is not essential in 2022. But it seems that it is for rs! Your own words.
My account is not linked and never has been. I have already said that I do not use third-party programs.
You might convince others that I'm at fault, but unfortunately that won't work on me since I'm telling the truth.
So I find your whole answer really upsetting.
And that's why I can safely make a statement that Jagex has a data breach.

Best of luck ? Really ? If you hadn't deleted my last message, everyone could see you're actually harassing me with that last sentence. I hope you sleep well in night.

Hi Smokie :)

I know that losing your items to a hijacker is something that is very infuriating. Nobody wants their items stolen. However, everyone posting here is just trying to give you the best advice that they can & they do mean well by it. I also understand that it's easy to want to point fingers when you feel confident that you've done everything to stay secure; but keep in mind that your situation isn't entirely unique, which is not indicative of a problem on Jagex's end, but rather a problem on the internet overall in the sense that there are always predators who are looking to steal people's information for personal gain, who are unrelated to Jagex. If you want to look for something to point fingers at, I think the those malicious parties would be a good place to start :)

Following that, Jagex actually has given us the tools to combat these types of things, & the best course of action for you right now is to follow the link that Corder sent you, & look over the advice that is given within to address any security gaps you have that might have led to the hijack. You can also use the stickied thread in this sub-forum that guides you on how to completely re-secure your account to get it back in your hands fully after a hijacking occurs ( here ). If you follow that thread step-by-step, it will ensure a somebody can't get back into your account.

I certainly had something similar. I had taken a short break (account had a pin and had been secure for like 15 years). Got a new laptop and tested to make sure RS worked. Came back few weeks later - pin gone, password changed and everything gone. Jagex confirmed that my account had been compromised, but too bad I lose. All gp, food, runes, armor, weapons, santa, capes, everything!

@Missy 0138 that is very unfortunate :|

Have you checked that everything is secure? I would also check to see if the hijacker linked any social network accounts within account settings.
In order for someone to change your password, they need access to your email. You may want to set a new contact email address on your account once everything is secure!

Getting secure

Unfortunately its not possible to have items restored.
If you need additional help I recommend creating a new thread
Life is like a camera: Just focus on what's important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don't work out, take another shot !

Since I was hacked the same day I deactivated my authenticator, and only Jagex knew about the deactivation, I'm sure the problem is on their end. Maybe Jagex should check that THEIR email address that sends the links to disable the authenticator is not corrupted! That's the only possible explanation, that or one of their employee is the hacker.

Hey Smokie

Just wanted to clear something up for clarity because you do keep mentioning that you were hacked as soon as you removed auth.

You removed auth on 1 July and the first malicious login was 4 July.

Every indication is that your login and password were known. As you didn't have auth or a bank PIN I'm afraid the hijack wasn't blocked.

Obviously I don't know how your login details were compromised, it is likely due to phishing incident or a breach elsewhere - you can check if your credentials have been in a breach at sites like https://haveibeenpwned.com/.

Hello,

I completely understand where you are coming from. The exact same thing happened to me in November 2019 after a successful streak at the duel arena. I was using my main account which did not have 99 HP for staking and so people were staking me left and right, but I kept winning. After leaving the duel arena happy, I decided to never go back.

Facts: I did disable my authenticator on November 6th, 2019 in order to switch devices. When attempting to enable authenticator on new device, the page said "Error: authenticator is already enabled on your account." Before going to bed, I tried logging in again just to confirm authenticator is working on new device, client prompts me for Auth code and entering it results in successful login. Thinking my account is secure, with case insentitive password, bank pin and authenticator enabled, I went to sleep. The very next day all of my items were gone and my account is hacked. I received the same response that you did.

Discrepancies: Jagex claims my authenticator was disabled for several days, before being re-enabled, despite having tested the authenticator app the same night it was enabled.

@ milesofsmile - This Forum is for getting assistance from the community on account issues.

Posting a similar story on a thread that has been inactive for nine months does nothing to help the original poster, who most likely will not return to their old thread.

If you need assistance with an account issue, please create your own thread. Thanks :)

Thread closed to prevent additional gravebumping.
