I find the C++ client unusable, especially when playing more than three accounts. Freezing and crashing on me in a way that the java client does not.

The launcher doesn't let me launch the java client fast enough to avoid the "cannot create advertising

I don't like tool tips being beside my mouse cursor instead of the upper left, but I'd probably get over that eventually.
I am unappeasable.

First, I lost sight of the game window itself after minimizing it. All I saw on the Windows taskbar was Chrome and the Jagex launcher. But I could still hear the audio from OSRS, so it was running, I just couldn't see where. I ended up just using Task Manager to force stop it.

I have the invisible window thing happen every time on a fresh client install on Windows and Linux. It's just the very first start, and it's on fresh OS installs. On Windows (both Jagex Launcher and Steam) the OSRS client window appears but isn't in the taskbar, and on Linux the osclient.exe client window is completely invisible (GNOME), but plays audio. In all cases, force-closing osclient.exe and re-opening it has it work normally the 2nd and all future starts.

If I had to guess, the C++ client does "something" with the window position data it gets on subsequent starts, but with that data not existing on the very first start it does undefined behavior that probably should be fixed at the OS level since that's pretty attractive malware behavior :p If OSRS can do it, so can anything else.

Second question; there's a bar on the right side of the screen while playing OSRS on the C++ client that has 2 icons, one for XP something or other, and one for Loot something or other. Is there a way to remove this bar from the interface?

I think that's called sidebars for HP and Prayer; I think there's an in-game Interface setting for it

I haven't tried multiple OSRS windows, but it sounds like instability could be because of OpenGL support from the graphics drivers. On Windows, use the latest drivers for NVIDIA and Intel, and 22.5.1 or lower on AMD. I've never seen a single OSRS C++ client window freeze or crash on Windows and Linux.

I think the tooltip and mouse cursor is adjustable via in-game setting.

The decision to discontinue the standard Java client for Old School RuneScape and focus on the C++ Client is a significant step in modernizing and enhancing the game's technology. It's great to see that the C++ Client has received numerous cool features and updates over the past couple of years, making it the default client for new players.

For existing players who prefer the Java client, you can still continue playing on your existing approved clients. Additionally, the RuneLite and HDOS experiences will not be affected, and players are encouraged to use these approved third-party clients.

The commitment to improving the New Official Client and adding features found in other approved clients is a positive move. It's clear that the goal is to provide an enjoyable Old School RuneScape experience, regardless of the client you use.

This transition reflects Jagex's dedication to keeping the game up-to-date and in line with modern technology while ensuring that players have choices in how they access and enjoy Old School RuneScape.

I understand your concerns and frustrations with the C++ client and the transition away from the Java client. It's unfortunate to hear that the C++ client is causing freezing and crashing issues, especially when you're managing multiple accounts. The stability and performance of the client are crucial for a smooth gaming experience.

It's also common for players to have preferences when it comes to features like tooltips and cursor positioning. While these changes are meant to modernize the game's technology, it's understandable that some players may find the adjustments to be less comfortable or familiar.

If you haven't already, consider providing feedback and details about the specific issues you're encountering with the C++ client to Jagex. They are actively working on improving the client and addressing player concerns, and your input can be valuable in this process.

Remember that the legacy Java client is still available, so if you find it more reliable and comfortable, you can continue using it for the time being. Jagex's goal is to ensure that players have a positive and enjoyable experience, so your feedback is important in shaping the client's development.
