I think people are failing to see that OSRS is not at all a high interaction game. The idea of watching the same frames happening for hours on end just to grind your skills up is not fun, Jagex knows this and made RS3, which is a lot more interactive, rather than point-click-watch. The old-school team understands this and that is why randoms are being redone. With the change in randoms people assume the game is ruined. No, those who bot will still bot, those who AFK grind will still do so, and the few who watch every minute will continue to do so. At this point randoms only affect the AFK players, disturbing them with a minor inconvenience every so often. Those who auto click do so at Pest control anyways where there are no randoms, and if I'm correct, the barrows graves also have no randoms.
So the change they are implementing with randoms really is a small quality of life change to those who afk grind and wish to fill their time in with other stuff as well, because spending 100 hours woodcutting to the same 3 frames of animation does get tedious (as I do, playing another game with my sounds from runescape going so I know when I'm no longer woodcutting, to make a quit tab in and out, or doing some paperwork and occasionally checking back).
People complain about everything no matter what it is. Do understand that a good portion of the community that actually plays are doing a bit of AFK grind to make it easier, removing them will get you 90% bots, and a 10% active community. There is no point in punishing those who play this way because you think they are as bad as bots.
I like the proposed random change, but I don't mind if the randoms stay as they are either, like I said earlier, it's only a slight inconvenience that randoms exist but will not change the way I play the game. I manage to complete most randoms but I'll still get sniped by the occasional Ent breaking my axe. Oh well spend 30 seconds fixing it. Back to woodcutting.
