I didn’t vote “no” because I didn’t like the concept of group ironman. I voted no because everyone has to start fresh from tutorial island again.
I think I’m beginning to learn why I’m getting frustrated with this game and its updates. I understand the direction - we have a decent number of talented players who dedicate way too much time to this game and want more challenging things. However, the game developers are continuously failing to take into account the rest of their playerbase. The players who don’t play as much for whatever reason (work, school, friends, social life, wait that’s going too far), or the players who can’t meet the level of these talents players due to some kind of restriction (internet based, location based, hardware based, etc). And I think the reason why we still like to play is we enjoy grinding something unique, but these more and more hardcore updates make it well, hard to keep up or don’t take into account everyone’s situation.
It also becomes problematic because I’ve tried getting new people to join runescape (people who have never played before! Wow!), and the difference level between someone who has never played and a veteran is huge. By making more hardcore updates, we’re widening that gap, and making it so we’re disuading new people from joining. Which sucks.
As of right now, I don’t care about my ironman having prestige or w/e. Heck, I wouldn’t even mind wiping my current ironman to restart on tutorial island to make the group ironman. But I think there are some people who already started ironman and would prefer to make a group outside of tutorial island (ie, change to group). It sounds like you’re already creating some restrictions - people who leave to start another group can’t access items without doing the content. Why can’t that apply to people who already have iron accounts and want to create a group together? It could even help new players, to have someone who already has a headstart join the group.
