Firstly, I'd like to say thank you for releasing content, and that I really appreciate how well it fits into the game. I really like how it could encourage players to experience content they may have been avoiding just because they felt no need to try it. It encourages challenges and self-improvement rather than repetitive mindless grinding in most cases.
However, I see two issues with the current implementation that I would like to discuss and propose solutions for, as I see a lot of people very frustrated about them.
1.) The Progression
Completing an entire tier of achievements is not easy, as a rough estimate after discussions with some other high level players, the requirements and time commitment for a fresh account are comparable if not higher than maxing in ALL skills.
I am glad that the tiers were split into 6, rather than diary-style 4, however, I believe further milestones should be added.
A lot of people are suggesting a leagues-like points system, but I believe that tasks should remain within their tiers and only affect their tiers.
Instead, I would propose that there are milestones for completing 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of each tier. This would allow restricted accounts to do partial completions, and it would also allow other people to have a sense of progress even if they do not believe they would be capable of completing an entire tier at their current skill level.
2.) The Rewards
Along with the above proposal for milestones, I would like to suggest that all non-cosmetic rewards be moved to the 25% completion milestone.
As mentioned above, an equivalent time commitment for skilling would result in a max cape, combining effects of 23 individual skill capes, on top of the benefits of being 99 in all skills.
The 50%, 75%, and 100% completions also need to be adequately rewarded to make this update interesting to the majority.
I welcome suggestions for what the rewards could be if anyone has ideas, but variety would be key.
Regards,
LordGilGalad
