I’m not a big fan of this update. Increasing the stats will make them more of a chore to do for medium leveled combat players. Which is what I thought this update was geared towards. I think the new mechanic while fighting basilisks is fine. But I find everything else discouraging to fight basilisks. Hopefully some of these changes are tuned back down.

Tbh in terms of the new buff to the monsters, it's not bad! The main thing is that the attack that petrifies you does full damage when you break the stone slightly 4 times. Since you're breaking the rock down, the damage from the move should progressively get weaker. Also they currently drop noted single herbs. That's good for lower levels, but after spending all of the points into getting an herb sack, it's almost useless on a lot of the newer slayer monsters being released, considering they all drop noted herbs, which can't be placed into the herb sack.

And when ranging these with auto-retaliate on you automatically try to break free? The special attack never deals damage and you just keep on killing it? Was this intended? Mercy Clan -QFC:

This is the first time I've posted here.

I feel the intent of this update (re: basi knights) was announced too fast. I'm a mid-high level ironman; 113cb with whip. The basi's before update were about right for me. Didn't take too long and were enough of a challenge that I had to restock every 15-20 kills. I have just got a task and 4 took me way too long so this is now a skip. I hope the team checked the metrics on how the knights were being killed:

What was the ratio of ranged to melee?
What was the median stats and weaponry of the players?
What are players using to sustain and prolong trips? Can this have a soft counter?

I feel like if the real issue was people afking, which I believe was actually countered by the call to decrease drop chance when off task, then you look how to dissuade both attack styles used:

Range - remove safe spot
Melee - add mechanic to enforce focus

The range is obvious and I feel the re-use of the hespori entangle mechanic is sufficient - allowing the stone to expire will cause damage and ultimately death.

For sustain, the use of guthans will always mean countering this is hard however if, after some analysis, the team discovered bones to peaches was heavily used then this could have been countered with changing the bone size or something to similar effect. You could also argue that the payment to extend tasks could have been removed to dissuade longer trips.

I am happy with the above additions to provoke more interaction for range and melee however the increase of stats is ultimately what will make this a skip until I have end gear.

Thanks for reading and comments welcome.

Buffing the regular drop table a bit would help offset the cost and hassle of the Knights - they're a very high level monster that requires lots of supplies to kill efficiently, and the drop table doesn't offset the cost (unless you get the jaw). They're basically a solo GWD Bandos with a less valuable drop table.

Yeah drop table should probably be buffed to make them worth killing.

The knights did need a buff due to dropping a BIS item though... this isn't meant to be mid level content. If you cannot do Zulrah, you should not be able to kill these guys.

I think it'd be fine if it brought in around 400-500k/hr after supplies and the jaw drop as the unique..maybe a pet..?
