I just want to toss this out there as I've done "official wars" with clans for a great many years, both in the Wilderness and in safe Clan Wars Arena.
For the sake of proving 'CWA' is superior, a small comparison (using the Clan Wars we know as a model)

Pros:
- "Old skool"
Cons:
- Outsiders can join the war
- People who are late can join the war without anyone noticing it
- People can return without anyone noticing it
- Outsiders can crash the war
- Outsiders can interfere with the war
- Spectators may trade food to the players
- Spectators may join the war without anyone noticing it
- Tree To Tree is one of the worst places for tanking
- You have no idea about the situation
- Limited possibilities for warring
- Easy to cheat (blasts/curses/something like that in melee & binds only war)
- It's possible to hit your team mates
- There's only 2 F2P PVP worlds and like 20 active PVP clans/Teams with nothing much to do but interfere
- You lose your items when you die
Clan Wars
Pros:
- No outsiders
- "Impossible" to cheat
- Real-time info about the war
- We can use any world we want any time we want
- You can't hit your team mates
- Impossible to crash
- There's more than one arena/map (Turrets = Huge private area <3)
- CW maps are almost like designed for tanking
- We can use the best possible items (Huge advantage over noobish skill cape clans)
- You don't lose your items
Cons:
- Any ideas?

I do want to add in that I do love the wilderness, I'm a huge fan of PKing.
However, I'm no fan of "no honour" (such as PJing which you have also adressed in this thread) and since actual 2007 (it was rare in 2006) there has been "no honour" amongst most PvP warring clans, this has destroyed that once grand clan community.
Clan Wars is needed and should be suported by anyone who wants a good fight based on the skills of a Clan, rather then by the numbers a Clan can pu
