Unrestricted Worlds have the potential to be the biggest-picture update since OSRS launched. Should it be temporary?

Runescape is an incredible game featuring a unique blend of solo and group content. Currently, a lot of the best content heavily favors groups of high level accounts. Unrestricted Worlds give ALL the players access to the games best content, regardless of their account builds.

Those with limited account builds or are skillers, pures or PKers, often do not have access to that same content, especially when trying to group with friends or other players.

With Unrestricted Worlds, Jagex can open Runescape up to more players while giving its existing players the opportunity to occasionally play the game differently than they normally would.

Note that progress is not saved on these worlds so your character will be temporary and reset each time they log in. Unrestricted Worlds won't impact the economy or the legitimacy of players hard-earned accounts in the actual game.

Why is this temporary?

Same concept, but completely different in terms of difficulty and skill. I wasn't surprised to read that they kept the Inferno out of it.

Just my thoughts , but if you gave F2P people a chance to experience members things then they might just really want to join and work toward that.. Members already know.. The unrestricted worlds would really get them interested.. On a business stand point it makes sense.. Where does it hurt Jagex to let this happen ? Just saying...

I think the Unrestricted Worlds have been a phenomenal update.

I'd certainly second Tonio's suggestion of including the option to choose which Fight Caves wave you join. I see the article mentions "this is the perfect chance to practice your skills," and I believe that this small update would sincerely unlock the limitless potential of the game as it was conceptualized.

As a minor secondary note, I'd suggest eliminating the time restrictions on home/mini-game teleport spells. This discourages exploration outside of the Clan Wars area, where players are limited to 20 minutes per cast. The goal of this Beta Version is to engage players who aren't maxed, don't have access to high-value items, and have a relatively limited knowledge of the game, compared to veterans. Wanting to explore the world, but forgetting a Ring of Dueling, starkly limits those that wish to adventure outside of the Al Kharid Desert.

I commend the developers who initiated this project and I believe it's been one of the most unique changes outside of typical gameplay (though a close second to the concept of Deadman Mode).
