I'm gonna need an event to show the pride I have for being straight please. Whether political or not, it has NOTHING to do with Runescape. I have no problem with gay people until they shove the gay in my face, which is what has been done here.

I'm sorry, but I don't see how this is being shoved in your face. This is an optional event. It doesn't add new BiS gear. It doesn't add a quest point thus requiring you to complete it to wear a quest cape again. It's an optional, time-limited event that shows Jagex supports equality. If you don't support equality for the LGBTQ community, then don't participate in the event. Simple. Events like their charity work also have nothing to do with Runescape, but they are a tremendous effort on Jagex's part to help raise money for something they support.

In response to other comments here, the event doesn't tell children that you have to sleep with the same sex. It literally has you help build a rainbow. Yes, the rainbow is the symbol of the gay pride movement, but to say this is somehow teaching children to be gay is just not logical. What child sees a rainbow and says "ew, gay people"?

I see people also using the religious argument, but I don't see people complaining about how religious practitioners often hand out flyers or little booklets trying to "spread the word of God." Some would argue that's shoving beliefs down others' throats... People are free to believe what they want and love who they want. I'm not out there shaming people for beliefs that differ from my own. Since when did tolerance become a dirty word?

I don't get why people were so worked up by this event, to be honest.

Yeah, I'll admit I thought it did not belong in Runescape (And I say this as an LGBTQ person myself), when there are pride parades in my area I go outside and cheer on them, maybe listen to some speeches... When I'm in Runescape I just wanna play the game and do some farm runs, lawl.

But the event itself turned out to be small and charming, and did not shove down the whole LGBTQ debate down people's throats. It's A-okay in my book. :)

(Also, nice update for Pest Control, it was sorely needed!)

As a practicing Catholic, I would really like to thank you guys for the event, especially when I see all the ignorant and aggressive backlash. Its nice that you have done something concrete to further tolerance and understanding, even if its just an in-game event.

We should all take an example out of this and not lecture others on what is right and what is wrong, but rather set a living example through our own actions.
