Why worry about a pet? By the time the event is over no one will be walking around Gielinor with one of them out. And why poll any of this? None of it effects game play. It does seem like a lot of new rewards though for an event. I'd be happy with just the event and maybe one of the rewards. The point of the journey is not to arrive.
