The Grand Exchange is Oldschool.

No, as
Viktor 36
said above, Trading Post is more OLD SCHOOL.

If the Grand Exchange had been Old School, it would have been put in when Old School was brought back, but as you might have noticed it was not.

I remember when they first put in the Grand Exchange. The result was a ruined economy for the community. Prices fell drastically for skilled items, and skillers found they paid a huge price for the convenience of not meeting up to make trades. However, it did seem to be a huge help for merchers and bots. Merchant clans did their best to manipulate prices and the RS economy. Some of the very manipulative leaders drove down prices on certain items so they could horde them, then raised prices HIGH when they sold back to the community. (Those manipulative leaders benefited greatly, but I don't know how much their clan members benefited. I heard a lot of complaining from people who left merchant clans because they felt they had been scammed.)

I understand some people not wanting to bother meeting up to trade and the motivation of merchers to make money, but this game is OLD SCHOOL.
When it is time for the poll, please VOTE to protect OLD SCHOOL from the harm
that a Grand Exchange can cause and VOTE NO to Grand Exchange.

Okay you seem to be a bit misinformed. The Grand Exchange was in fact oldschool, it came out in 2007 and the only reason it wasn't implemented immediately was because Jagex's back up didn't span quite far enough. Jagex allowed the players to feel the nostalgia they wanted, but now it's time to move forward.

You're entitled to your own opinion, but if Jagex really wanted to preserve Old School to the full extent, there's plenty of other updates that should never have been implemented.

Pro-GE Fallacies:

OLD SCHOOL vs 2007
Old-School is a concept. It means doing things the hard-work kind of way, or producing something that has a reminiscent vibe to it. It applies to a variety of results that range from master craftsmanship all the way to jerry-rigged, ugly but functional. Old-school is not a time stamp.

PLAYER INTERACTION vs LACK OF CONVERSATION
Lets say you mine some ores to make a little cash. Player interaction means that if somebody wants to buy those ores they're gonna have to come find you. You're not competing with a machine that sells cheap ores out of an afk warehouse.
Notice the CONTEXT of the word "interaction"
If you post your goods on the TP then other players will find you, and even come to where you are to get them from you. All you have to do is communicate with them. You don't have to waste any time not playing the game. But your items you gathered retain the value that's added to them by having already gathered them, and it's up to you how much that's worth.

FIX TRADING POST vs REPLACE WITH GRAND EXCHANGE
Mad at Jagex for releasing the TP the way they did. We're not supposed to have offers from people who are offline, and yet we do. The private chat setting needs to affect what shows on the TP, and neglecting this has lead to more people saying it's broken and giving up.
This skews the upcoming vote toward GE.
That just means all the more people that will be angry when the GE vote still doesn't pass. And I've been angry since release date because I don't feel you've given it a fair chance by releasing it with such a huge thing missing. Knowing posts are only from people online was the #1 benefit of having this in-game, and it's been botched. And yet you say it's what we voted for.

I have a much longer post to ... er ... post elsewhere but I just wanted to say a couple of things.

Brilliant (!)

and

I re-discovered RS07 by mistake and am damn glad I did. I'll play both versions, but there are many things about this one that I can now appreciate in new ways and which have given me a great deal of satisfaction (I think I've got to 500 + lvls on a noob account in decent time, for one thing and see myself playing it more out of the two). I very much like the direction you seem to be taking with this 'product/game' and wish to reiterate that there are many areas over which it does better than its new, shiner counterpart (e.g. player interaction! and a greater focus on the character than what can be purchased - a notable value difference) and do trust (both senses of the word) that it will remain sufficiently differentiated and comparable to the original RS2 and spirit of that game such that it can be enjoyed by many for a long, long time.

Edit to say it's good that people want to earn their capes, not buy them.

I think that we need to focus on the visuals of OSRS like maybe being able to use display modes like full screen, custom screen, low and high vis, etc. I also think for skills we should add in Summoning and bring back Soul Wars with Soul wars tokens and etc. Cause I really miss that about old school! Idk Just a thought!

To add onto my thoughts I think that we SHOULDNT have the GE or Dungeoneering but everything prior to Dungeoneering like I liked the new Display updates and been able to change your hair to like dragon and swish and stuff and having assasin armor and etc, Runescape started sucking when Dungeoneering came out and they started doing the stupid WoW attack bar and stuff

Looks good,

Im not 100% sure about graphic updates, but Im at least 75% sure about them, so i likely wouldn't vote no.

Im not sure about GE, I'll think more about when the time comes.
Im not particularly happy that the trading post displays offline players trades.
Or trades accross worlds for that matter.

The Community shop conceptually seems like an "easing-in" for microtransactions.
Which I am not for.
Cosmetics are great, but they tend to end up being an "ease-in" for pay to win.
The second I see pay to win, Im out.

You state we have 2 weeks to play in free to play worlds and you won't allow us in to play. When we try we get a message "you need a members account to log into this world. Please subscribe or use a different world." I have gotten this message for at least 2 days now and it does not matter what worlds I try. Please give us the 2 weeks you say you will give us. Also when I go to a free 2 play world with my members character I can not go into p2p areas, That does not seem right or fair to any of us. Essentially I feel you are taking away our 2 weeks of playing there and requesting more money from us. Thank You
