protean planks are essentialy garbage now. after the mining and smithing update JaGeX added the fatpack maker device in which can use planks to make flatpcks. protean planks give no bonuses other than beign stackable.

but that is crap since i can only hold 28x flatpacks, that means weather useign proteans or real mahogony its going to be same, make 28, disamble, rinse repeat. making having protean planks have almost zero benifits.

i understand the point was they were stackable and back then there was no flatpack maker. but now they are garbage and i just have to convert them into some othe rmore usefull protean. could this be addressed?

Protean planks are very very useful as they can be used in place of most planks in many many many occasions. For instance, protean planks are the very best to be used in Construction Contract. You can also use protean planks for farming god wines handily too.

Protean planks work on Construction Contract the first second the skilling update was released. They also work on almost all, if not all, content which require planks ever since their release.

Also if you have the invention level to make the flatpack depacker, it automatically notes or dissembles flatpacks as you make them, making it possible to make 60 flatpacks at one go with proteans.

But let's not forget, protean planks even if you treat them as merely free mahogany planks, that's 2k per plank you're saving. Construction is normally a pretty expensive skill to train, so it seems pretty helpful to me for that reason.
