I think that Treasure Hunter is a bit toxic as it promotes gambling. Also treasure hunter is not even actual in game content. I’m not against it entirely and I love it especially way better than the sqwueel of fortune which forced non members to abandon almost all prizes for almost nothing before oddments came into the game. I just don’t like how heavily it is marked for example on my alt I got a ‘promotion’ of a percentage off for buying keys which I thought was for everyone so I bought it on my main but did not get the discount since it was only the account that was targeted. I have already sorted this out with Jagex and they told me I will get a discount on buying my next batch if I let them know, which I haven’t. The constant treasure hunter this treasure hunter that is pulling people into gambling which I think is a bit irresponsible plus the huge xp benefits which kind of provide an unfair xp advantage in my opinion. It also unevenly distributes wealth when someone gets something worth a lot of money and sells it for big profit and they end up getting all the money while most have to grind for the gp. I know if not everyone then most people will disagree with me. I do understand things have changed a lot. It’s just not cricket.

Thanks

Duel Arena and gambling BA points for crappy rewards including the Dragon Full Helm "grand prize" are much closer to gambling than TH.

Bonds are more pay-to-win than TH obviously. " It also unevenly distributes wealth when someone gets something worth a lot of money and sells it for big profit and they end up getting all the money while most have to grind for the gp. I know ". This is true but this is not TH, it is definitely what Bonds do. With TH, vast majority of the prizes are not tradeable and have no gp value. However, one can easily pay real money such as $400 for a BiS Eldritch Crossbow or $2,100 for a BiS Harmonized Orb.

I don’t really think TH alone is gambling or an unfair advantage although it’s crazy to me the fact that some of the prizes are 100m gp. And I do think bonds are important because they let people use in game currency which otherwise would not have allowed me to continue membership as much. I have sort of changed my mind about treasure hunter but I do think it might be addictive for awhile but in my case I quickly learned that chances of getting anything that will make you think it was worth it are pretty slim so I don’t have any urge to buy keys after doing so twice and being a little disappointed. Disappointment is really a learning opportunity. Cheers

Game of chance is a better term than "gambling" actually as gambling can mean very different things for different people. For instance, the stock market is always a gamble, but the professionals call it INVESTMENTS. ;)

I recommend to either stray away from purchasing TH keys and/or playing on an Ironman account if you feel that you are unable to limit your spending on Runescape's MTX system.

No, you can't. You can still find yourself "gambling" at Sand Casino without buying TH keys or making an ironman account. Don't forget bonds give you all kinds of things and gp you can gamble in a blink but you can't wager TH items in Sand Casino whatsoever.

There are always people running flower games and such too without any element of MTX. The "gambling" issue is a matter of the players themselves far more than anything Jagex can do.
