I had two capsules to open with the previous crystal capsule promo, one was a orange gem one was a purple gem. Will the next shadow gem promo remember that I had two left or will my gems get reset? I was so close to getting a daily challenge key, but I couldn't finish it before the current promo reset. Any idea?

It completely depends on how the event is brought back. If it is brought back as a 24 hour event like how Second Tuesday works, then yes the shadow gem will stay. However, the next time they run the promotion for its full length (couple of days), that gem will be removed. I believe the 24 hour promo will hit before the next full length one (like it does) so you should have one more opportunity to go for it.
