There's an image going around on the subreddit at the moment from RS3 mobile. Apparently, they've revealed the drop rates for any each of the five "rarities" on mobile (supposedly due to the tighter restrictions on the digital storefronts requiring it):

White: 58.68%
Yellow: 24.56%
Orange: 10.36%
Red: 6.23%
Purple: 0.15%

(coincidentally, those numbers only add up to 99.98%, so presumably they're rounded to the nearest hundredth)

Didn't see anyone talking about it here (probably because it's not a thing on the non-mobile clients) so figured I'd do a little PSA. Do with it what you will.

Old news really since even somebody in these RSOF had tried to talk about it:

However, really nobody is really concerned about odds anymore. More than 2 years ago games developers and publishers began to reveal odds in China, and subsequently the odds have been reported elsewhere soon but "big surprise" that nobody is surprised. :)

Realistically, people really don't care about odds as long as the RNG surprise is not all-or-nothing. So what if the odds to get the top przee is 1 in 667 if the most common prize is a very useful xp lamp?

Besides, the really hot "gambling" mechanics in town is not just loot boxes. Developers like Take Two have jumped into in-game casinos with both feet:

https://www.polygon.com/2019/7/26/8911368/gta-online-casino-addiction-losing-money-rockstar

That's right! Gamers say they’re going broke in the Take Two casinos, and they love it.

Perhaps Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and Silly Rabbit are mad that they can't do anything to loot boxes. They are so mad that they hurdling around the Diamond Casino "gambling" tables and happily going broke themselves too. :D

Hmm, must have missed the previous thread. Ah well.

FWIW, I wasn't trying to make any sort of statement about lootboxes/in-game gambling. Just figured people should know the odds of getting what they're after (or at least the odds of getting the coloured gem that might contain what they want vis a vis Red Gem cosmetics/skill outfits/slayer masks or Lucky items, etc.) if they buy keys.

Lock please!
