I've had a few goes at the new ring of shards and I would provide the following comments.
*I like the ability to choose one of five prizes.
*I don't like that there are duplicates among the five prizes
*I would like an option to have a cheaper re-roll option for oddments if giving up the chance for an upgrade
*I would like a chance to use either oddments or hearts of ice to remove a skill from a star or lamp when it is one of the prizes, or even to use hearts on the shards (didn't check if you can)
*I'm not entirely clear on the purpose of having to choose one of the five shards, as I'm not sure in what situation someone would choose a less rare option. The only case I can see is if someone wants to keep a red and not purple.
