Hear me out with this one.

Jagex stated that they need treasure hunter in order to survive. To me, that's an absolute ridiculous claim. The game doesn't need microtransactions to survive, it needs the player base it once has.

With the 141 worlds the game has, the average players in worlds is around 110/2000 which is pathetic with their 240million accounts created.

II'm a little off topic, so here we go.

Treasure hunter is a loot box system that either gives you cosmetics to improve one's look, items that makes skilling quicker and more efficient, wealth even weapons you don't need to work for. Sure it's nice to obtain, but this itself makes the whole purpose of working hard meaningless and gives them a huge lead in the high scores. They promote what you can obtain, but it's a sketchy tactic in order to make money. It's like dangling a treat in front of a dog "You want this don't you" feel to it. Even if you fall for this scheme, you may or may not recieve the item for all the keys you payed for.

In my opinion, the only thing that should exist is the Solomon store. Sure there are items that give you an edge, but at LEAST you know what you are getting. Cosmetics you get from Treasure hunter (Override tokens) should be accessible in Solomon's Store. That way players can spend money on a cosmetic (Without the need of chance) and sell it to players, or use it for themselves.

A lot of players like Treasure hunter don't get me wrong, but these people need to understand that it's killing the game. RS3 is a ghost town now in 90%+ of the servers and needs to be addressed. With the release of mobile on its way, Jagex can't seriously be thinking that it will bring in more players... Old School is doing WAY better.

I've played many MMO's and all have died because the existence of poorly used microtransactions. Microtransactions should always be selective cosmetics, not random. It kills the whole purpose of having high scores if you give them so much Bonus XP and lamps...

"Hey company, You know that thing that makes you good money? You shouldn't make money from it because I don't like it along with some other people who also don't like it. Forget the people who do like it, They don't matter and are too dumb to realize what's good for themselves so let me talk over them. Mtx will make your product die because of some vague comparison to other games"

That is a paraphrase.

Good luck selling that to Jagex lol.

Try if you want, but I'm not holding my breath.
You know, that Dagoth Ur fellow has got some valid points.

As much as I don't like these predatory and straight up Pay to Win systems in games, these arguments are not going to convince anyone to change anything.

First of all, your number of players average depends largely on the time of day in various parts of the world. You seem to have picked the most quiet time to base your argument on, which serves to reveal your bias and acts against your argument.

Your argument that TH is killing the game is simply ignorant. You cannot deny that the addition of this system has a net gain effect on the profits of a company like Jagex, which makes it very good for the game. If Jagex has more money to throw around, most if not all of that money will go straight back into the game, or at least it should.

Whether or not RS3 is a ghost town and servers need to be addressed also simply isn't your call. If Jagex feels the need to reduce the number of worlds to bring players closer and cut server costs, they'll do so. You don't have the required insight to be able to effectively make that call as a player. Personally, I like having some worlds that aren't packed with people everywhere. Some slayer spots for example really do need this many worlds to be able to provide a spot for everyone slaying at peak hours or during events.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm with you in that TH is bad thing, but it's there and that's it. Don't like it? Don't buy it, because if you do, it'll keep coming back. Considering it's been here for a while, you're likely in the minority on this subject.

Just my 2 keys.
Be the change you would like to see in the world.
